    There seems to be some diffence in emphasis between the 'three' Abramic religions. As Christians we percieve Christianity [in Jesus], as being the fulfilment of the Jewish Old Testament trail. - They are tied to Abraham's son, Isaac. Islam claims decendance from Ishmael. Here is what Genesis has to say about Ishmael's progeny - 'He will be a wild donkey of a man: his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility towards his brothers. - Genesis 16:12

        That Ishmael legacy would seem to fit Islam, especially the literal and fundamental expression of such. The post above and link to the "pure" Islamic State's official magazine would underscore this.

          I need to elaborate more on this ...

          Confirmed: Islam, Not Grievances, Fuels Muslim Hate for the West
          EXCERPTS from this article that are in the pdf of the quote/link;
          ...
          "1. We hate you, first and foremost, because you are disbelievers; you reject the oneness of Allah – whether you realize it or not – by making partners for Him in worship, you blaspheme against Him, claiming that He has a son [Christ], you fabricate lies against His prophets and messengers, and you indulge in all manner of devilish practices. It is for this reason that we were commanded to openly declare our hatred for you and our enmity towards you. "There has already been for you an excellent example in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, 'Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone'" (Al-Mumtahanah 4 [i.e., Koran 60:4]). Furthermore, just as your disbelief is the primary reason we hate you, your disbelief is the primary reason we fight you, as we have been commanded to fight the disbelievers until they submit to the authority of Islam, either by becoming Muslims, or by paying jizyah – for those afforded this option ["People of the Book"] – and living in humiliation under the rule of the Muslims [per Koran 9:29].
          ....
          It is only in reasons five and six that ISIS finally mentions "grievances" against Western foreign policies—only to quickly clarify:

          What's important to understand here is that although some might argue that your foreign policies are the extent of what drives our hatred, this particular reason for hating you is secondary, hence the reason we addressed it at the end of the above list. [...] The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam. Even if you were to pay jizyah and live under the authority of Islam in humiliation, we would continue to hate you [emphasis added].

          It is this unrelenting hatred that Westerners cannot comprehend; a hate that compels Muslim husbands to hate their non-Muslim wives, that compels America's great "friends and allies," such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to publish government sanctioned decrees proclaiming their hate for America.

          • We can’t afford to give terrorists a one-way ticket back to the battlefield
            EXCERPT:
            ...
            But the grave risks of this policy cannot be ignored. The President is giving terrorists a one-way ticket back to the battlefield.
            In fact, officials have confirmed to Congress that some former detainees are responsible for attacking or killing Americans since being freed. Yet, incredibly, the releases persist.

            Not only does the President’s rush to open Gitmo’s jail cells allow fighters to keep waging war against us, it also gives the jihadist A-team a chance to mentor a new generation of radicals.

            “Outrageous” hardly describes the non-logic of this policy. What Commander-in-Chief lets the enemy return to the fight in the middle of a war?

            But that’s just the problem—the President doesn’t believe we’re fighting one.
            ...
            In reality, though, we’ve entered uncharted territory. Those killers have now been tied to more than 100 terrorist plots or attacks against Western countries, an unprecedented wave of terror. And former Gitmo detainees are eagerly joining ISIS’s ranks, in addition to re-enlisting with al Qaeda.
            ...
            Nearly 700 inmates have been released from Gitmo, and more than 200 have returned to the fight or are suspected of doing so, according to the Director of National Intelligence. And that’s just who we know about.

            Sadly, the President is more focused on letting these terrorists loose than on rounding up more of them.

              Agreed, trying to ignore Islam in explaining violent Jihadists is like trying to explain the Heaven's Gate suicides without reference to that cult's specific beliefs. You can develop all sorts of explanations about the appeal of cults and or religions in general but you can't explain the fact of the suicides without reference to the details of their beliefs.

                        • The hundreds of views here each week could be partly the result of search engine hits (I've been told) or perhaps lots of people have this thread bookmarked. In the case of the latter and in case many don't go elsewhere on this Forum, next door here in "Current Events" is a sub-forum for "North America" and a thread there starts with this question;
                          QUOTE:
                          drivin-fool
                          Colonel
                          15 years after 9/11, what should we have done?

                          We have had 15 years to armchair quarterback the events of 9/11. While we know invading Iraq was not the best idea, what should we have done post 9/11? I am interested to see what some of our members here feel was the best course of action beginning on 9/12/01.
                          http://www.armchairgeneral.com/forum...d.php?t=173202

                          The following is copy-paste of my reply, which while at first read may sound a bit flippant, it really is seriously meant.
                          QUOTE:
                          "We" do nothing, it is all in Allah's hands.

                          Within three months of 9/11/2001 a large meteorite/small asteroid impacts the Kaaba in Mecca.

                          For the next few years, on any given Friday, about noon to 12:30 PM local time, large meteorites impact mosques that preach Wahabi and other forms of Islamic Jihad. (Rods From Gawd/Allah)

                          About 2-3 years after 9/11 the "lost Surras" of the Koran are found, proclaiming there will be another prophet in the future when the time has come for a change to Islam (Signs Included).

                          The new "Prophet" arrives with new Revelations from Allah.

                          Most of Sharia Law is invalidated and replaced with a law of less restrictions and more liberties, freedoms, respect for all.

                          Violent Jihad is no longer the way to greater rewards in Paradise.

                          Allah accepts all (peaceful)religions and practitioners as his people, as well as all non-believers.

                          Muslims are to live in non-violent acceptance of all people, especially the non-Muslim.

                          Positive stewardship of the planet and all it's peoples are now the desired way to Paradise rewards.

                          Etc.

                          • Being a facet of the larger situation this thread addresses, a "reprint" here;

                            For a start, consider that all the neighboring nations to the Israel/Palestine Solution of 1947 attacked the new nation part known as Israel. This established an anti-Israel precedent to be overcome, or sustained. Those nations also took in Palestinian "refugees" as just that, and did not seek to absorb them as transplanted new citizens.

                            On the flip side a near equal number of Jews were displaced refugees from those and other Arab/Islamic lands as a consequence of the 1948-49 War and most were absorbed by Israel (others immigrated to the Western nations). You seldom hear any tears and concerns about these Jewish refugees whom lost their businesses, homes, and property as a result of the anti-Jewish actions in those "friendly" Muslim/Arab nations.

                            Back to main focus, almost all of the anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian* organizations that engage in violence/terror/Jihad against Israel base out of the nations neighboring Israel. Making those nations as culpable as the "Palestinian" "refugee" encampments within their borders. Hezbollah/Hizballah is one of those as the following links will show.

                            * "Palestinian" in this context refers to those claiming to be of Palestine as their "home land" and whom are not Jewish.

                            Following are some links to anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian organizations that engage in violence/terrorism/attacks against Israel and its citizens and residents. Note that in nearly every case, their definition of "occupied lands" is the entire nation of Israel, often shown in the emblems/flags of these "liberation" organizations.

                            • Fifteen years later the delusions continue;

                              Islamic terrorism is not a narrative
                              EXCERPT:
                              ...
                              Consequently, rather than seeking to understand the mindset of radical Islam and most effectively combat Islamic terrorists, our president and his colleagues categorically deny any connection between Islam and terror to the point that, in 2011, “the White House ordered a cleansing of training materials that Islamic groups deemed offensive.”

                              So, not only is Islamic terrorism not a narrative, but when it comes to the narrative spoken of by Josh Earnest – namely, that radical Islam is not related to Islam – the terrorists have won here too, with the White House scrubbing the all-important references to Islam from our law enforcement books.

                              In other words, when it comes to the battle the White House does want to fight, it is on the wrong side of the issue, falsely claiming that Muslim terrorists want America to be at war with Islam in general. Hardly. The fact is, these radical Muslims themselves are at war with other expressions of Islam worldwide.

                              Instead, these terrorists win the battle when we are convinced that they are not Muslims at all, thereby causing us to fight with one hand tied behind our back and one eye closed (at the least).

                              Note also that there is a false narrative put forth by the White House and Hillary Clinton, namely, that no Muslims are terrorists, as if the moment a lifelong, devoted Muslim commits an act of terror for the cause of Allah, he or she is now disqualified from being a Muslim.

                              Based on what Islamic tenet or text?

                              To the contrary, while a Christian could never behead an unbeliever and say, “Hey, I’m just following Jesus’ example,” a Muslim could commit this same act and say, “Hey, I’m just following Muhammad’s example.”

                              As for Hillary’s statement that “Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism” – does she mean the Muslims in Iran who hang gays … or the Muslims in Saudi Arabia who behead adulterers … or the Muslims in Pakistan who go on a bloody rampage over charges that a Koran has been defiled … or the Muslims in Afghanistan who prevent women from going to school … or the Muslims in those countries that enforce the death penalty for conversion?
                              ...

                              • Islamic militant groups' recruits likely to be well educated, study finds
                                EXCERPT:
                                Recruits to Islamic militant groups are likely to be well educated and relatively wealthy, with those aspiring to be suicide bombers among the best off, a study by the World Bank has found.

                                The research, based on internal records from the Islamic State group, will reinforce the growing conclusion among specialists that there is no obvious link between poverty or educational levels and radicalisation.

                                The data, leaked by a disaffected former member of Isis in March, includes basic information on 3,803 foreign recruits from all over the Islamic world and Europe who joined the organisation between early 2013 and late 2014, when the flow of volunteers to the organisation reached a peak.

                                Those arriving in Isis-controlled territory were vetted and interviewed. Data on country of residence, citizenship, marital status, skills, educational status, previous extremist experience and knowledge of Islamic law was recorded.

                                The World Bank study found that 69% of recruits reported at least a secondary level education while “15% left school before high school and less than 2% are illiterate”.

                                The educational level of recruits from north Africa or the Middle East was significantly greater than that of most of their compatriots, the researchers found.
