  • The "Mohammed roundabout dog" crisis

You all remember the Danish Jyllands Posten that published a cartoon of the prophet Mohammed. A few pictures created massive protests in the Middle East and central Asia as well as a heated debate about freedom of speech.

Its now time for round two...

An artist (Lars Wilks) over here in Sweden decided that it was time to start up the debate again, so he made a skwtch of Mohammed in the shape of a dog standing in a Roundabout. Somehow it became popular in the beginning of this year to decorate roundabouts with home made dogs, dont ask me why, but the concept soon spread and there where "roundabout dogs" everywhere.Do a google picture search on "rondellhund" and you will get a better picture.

Anyway the picture got published by a regional newspaper this week, and then things started to happen. The artist is now threatened to death, the "sionists" where the first to get blamed for the publishing, there are protest and counterprotests in front of newspapers office, and now they are burning what they belive look alot like a Swedish flag in Pakistan, as well as a puppet of our PM.

Its nice to see something without stars being burnt for a change...

It was of course bad when Nazi germany published caricatures of Jews to stir up hatred, and if this gives the true muslims the same feeling then its of course bas as well. However the first ones to complain for example Iran dont have much credibility due their own political cartoons and hate filled effigies against everyone but themselves.

I wonder if we finally will take the debate or if the goverment and national security services will try to quiet all this down.

Based on history to date, the Western European nations will apologize profusely and bend over backwards to curtail their own freedom of speech and press while catering in every way possible to the Muslim bigotry.

No offense. It happens all the time in America, too. No one in any of our countries seems capable of grasping the basic principle that respect must be a two-way street. If you don't give any, you don't get any.

Or as any Christian should be able to tell you from his Bible:

As ye sow the wind, so shall ye reap the whirlwind.

Will they? Did they do so in the last case?

      EDIT:
No they didn't. The danish refused to meet the imams, ambassadors whatever, conserning this case...

Better than last time when they where angry at the danes. Then they burnt the Swiss flag in front of the Swedish consulate in Iran. Two wrongs doesnt make a right...

            But three rights make a left . . . .

Is it just me or does it appear that one who would go all bananas over a cartoon isn't really that strong in his faith?

I had not heard about that. It is just tooooo funny

The nice thing about your flag is that it can be a little confusing as to which way is upside down, before you burn it. It probably causes them a little consternation trying to figure this out

Or too strong. Or just plain wrapped too tightly in general. Probably the kind of person that makes other people miserable by being too serious at parties.

We all know the type. You are having a good old time and someone wants to spoil it because "This is serious!"

I'll go to understanding-islam.org and remind those Muslims to be angry. Maybe they don't know about this report and they are happy...and wasting a great opportunity to get pissed.

AQ has during the muslim holidays decided to give the sum of 100.000 USD to the person who kills the artist (Hans Vilks) responsible for the drawings. The artits himself was a bit disapointed and had at least expected the double amount for his head.

If you do an image search on prophet Muhammad the cartoon with a smoking bomb as his turban inevitably comes up first. Worldwide databases have indexed it and Al-Quaeda will never do anything about it. By the way, this picture defines a new word "toonophobia"
