Don't you feel proud? Even the Russians are following our lead.

It usually works the other way round, The Snyder-Gray murder of 1927 was the origin of Double Indemnity, The Postman Always Rings Twice and Body Heat

He might probably mean Dota 2, but this game has nothing of the sort he was fantasizing about (zombies, pedophiles, blowing schools, 10 minutes of pulling other people's gut etc).
I almost spilled my coffee today when another "expert" referred to "Silence of the Lambs" as an example of modern Holywood films.

However its often the case that crimes are blamed on pernicious alien influences corrupting youth. Here in the 50s everything from mild cheek to crimes of extreme violence by gangs of .teddy boys were being blamed on the pernicious influence of American 'horror' comics. Some MPs became quite incensed, later it was imported US TV shows - particularly crime related ones (like Dragnet) which were said to be pushing British police role models (like Dixon of Dock Green) off the screen. I believe that in the 1930s and 40s some were blaming gangster movies (its all Cagney's fault glamourising crime). Back in the time of the first Elizabeth some were blaming the theatre for giving apprentices dangerous ideas. All a species of conspiracy theory.

rather than a terrorist attacking it seems to be a mass killing by a disgruntled student. Looks similar to US school shootings.

Russia's RBC TV interviewed a friend who said Roslyakov "hated the technical school very much" and had vowed "revenge" on his teachers.
Seems clear enough - as does

Classmates also say that he was very self-contained, hardly communicated with anyone, and had long ago stopped using social networks.

Since the start of the year Russia has seen several attacks on schools and colleges in which a number of people were hurt.
