It is good that the US is doing something for Georgia. The presence of a US warship may have some slight deterent effect on Russia. It is as much as can be hoped for given that the West will not give a miltary support for Georgia.

Might have helped in the NATO nations had all shown up with aid.

Canada's navy is busy ensure aid arrives in Somalia right now. Aid is need there far more then Georgia. Canada sent cash to Georgia 12th Aug.

Europe aid begun arriving in Georgia August 10th.

The USN is there not so much to deliver aid as to send a message to both Russia and Georgia.

Yes, and the one for Russia is the same one that we sent to the Tripolitan pirates early in the 19th Century.

"The fact that there are nine Western warships in the Black Sea cannot but be a cause for concern. They include two U.S. warships, one each from Spain and Poland, and four from Turkey," Anatoly Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of the Russian military's General Staff said.

Looks like a lot of water.
                    Thats kind of awkward:
Georgia is ranked third worldwide for water reserves per person

Water is #10 out of Georgia exports:

                      Oh come on

Canada is number #1 for water reserves in the world but in a disaster or a war clean bottled water is and will still be a livesavers for Canadians.

Besides you think a Destroyer at sea can suddenly product tents or most other emergency equipement besides food and water?

To add the Turkish, Polish, Spanish and US warships a German warship is now in the Black sea according to Russia.

I suppose you mean the Barbary Pirates?

Really? We are actually going to start a military action against Russia as we did against those pirates?

                          Sources, please?
