The point they are making is the low amount of symptoms (as often only the symptomatic persons are primarily tested) gives a bias towards not testing the typically asymptomatic children leading to an appearance as if they would not have the disease. However that is not the case. And even asymptomatic persons can spread it. However there is not enough data for any definitive statement one way or the other as of now. It is just a difference between preparing for the worst and hoping for the best or just only hoping for the best.

There have been no general increases in cases in countries where schools have gone back. Pretty much all of Europe has sent schools back to some degree and there have been no spikes.
The evidence for asymptomatic transmission is limited and if there is any then it is low. See WHO comments.
Below is the Royal College of Paediatrics statement on Covid. States and refers to multiple studies showing what I have stated about children and Covid - rarely catch it, virtually never die from it, rarely suffer from it and rarely pass it on.
As I have stated above the American Academy of Pediatricians, like its British equivalent and like most child health professionals are advocating for a physical return to school of all children as soon as possible. Of note the AAP are not insisting on the 6' social distancing rules either.

      https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/resources/co...s#epidemiology

On a health issue effecting children the relevant experts are the paediatricians and those working in child health. They say it is fine for schools go physically go back.

Here they were restarted but it has done very, very carefully and at very low infection rate. So the situation may not exactly be comparable. Upper secondary (grades after 9th) stayed fully in remote learning. This freed up enough space so that social distancing could be more easily achieved. Any flu-like symptoms in either students or their families lead to quarantines and any actual verified case lead to isolation. Any verified case also lead to quarantining the whole class - it happened few times in just couple of weeks the schools were open before the summer started (here school ends in the 1st week of June).

And no up tick infections or mass death I take it. Sweden had their schools open through out. Norway closed theirs but are now regretting it and have since opened. The Swiss opened theirs a while ago and one of the more well known studies shows that it didn’t cause any disease spread. Even the Belgians, who won the Corona cup, have had their schools go back.

Schools will need to do the following before students are allowed back into them. They will have to subdivide the classrooms into individual "Learning Booths." (From the Panic Society.)

The learning booth is designed as follows,

              1. A computer monitor is placed behind a special, super strong and soft screen. This protects the student from viewing the monitor too closely. (And protects the monitor from a destructive student).
              2. A video camera is also placed behind the screen. It allows two way communications with the teacher as well as videotaping the students behavior.
              3. An indestructible soft touch pad desk allows the student to input information into the learning computer.
              4. Students never handle any pencils, paper, books, rulers, scissors, pens, paperclips, rubber bands, scalpels or other such dangerous objects.
              5. Your kid is locked into the learning booth for the school day. Unauthorized persons cannot get at your kid to kill them, injure them, molest them, rob them, or sell drugs to them.
              6. The air-conditioned bulletproof, bombproof, soundproof, drug proof, fire proof, germ proof learning booth is padded all around and is small enough so your kid doesn't have the room to try to get injured in it.
              7. The booth is sterilized every night to protect your kid from any germs. (And clean it of any body fluids your kid decides to leave behind.)
              8. When you come to let your kid out, you will be provided with a record of your child's progress and behavior.
              9. A digital record is kept on everything that your kid does.
              10. Your kid is monitored for any signs of illness. The resident doctor will determine if this illness is real and notify you if you need to pick up your kid for a mandated two week quarantine of your family.
              11. Subject matters taught to students are very carefully controlled and monitored by a staff of far left experts. This staff is made up of National Education Association educators, Civil libertarians, atheist, civil rights activist, animal rights activists, environmental activist, and local democratic officials. They make sure that all material is kept void of any reference to sex, violence, race, creed, religion, Confederate symbols, creationism, Darwinism and conservative thought.
              12. And, of course, your kids are never allowed out of the booths where they could be exposed to the Cornovirus, gun toting crazies, drug pushers, rapists, kidnappers, molesting teachers, etc. until you come to personally escort them to their Safe Room of your own home.
              13. All kids are required to wear a super safe approved uniforms to school. All uniforms are of the same style and are colored eye rest green. It does not contain any loose items, zippers, pockets, or buttons that your kid might get injured on or swallow and choke on.
              14. There are no school lunches served. Students are not allowed to bring any food or drink with them. This eliminates any problem with kids loading up on those harmful fats, sugar, junk foods, and any possibility of choking to death on any foods or drink.
              15. School is held every day of the week weather permitting.
              16. Kids are not allowed to peddle overpriced candy and other fund raiser items.
              17. Kids cannot get together where they may get into fights, form gangs, peddle drugs, or disrupt other students.
              18. Kids are thoroughly searched by a robocop to be sure that they not wearing trench coats and are weapon and drug free before you lock them in the learning booth. They are randomly tested to see if they have been using drugs.
              19. All teen boys will be provided with a free condom when they leave the learning booth. All teen girls with their daily birth control pill.

For one, here the epidemic was reacted to. And schools didn't really open until the situation was well under control. So it rather tricky to compare to cases elsewhere. Here the rate was around 1 new infection per 100 000 people (i.e. a bit more than 50 per day in Finland) when the schools opened. Furthermore no one expected there to have been up tick of deaths from it. So it remains to be seen. I hope you have it right and I have it wrong.

                https://yle.fi/uutiset/3-11300232 (better Finnish language version)

Here is something - comparison between Finnish and Swedish approaches (from the request of UNICEF) https://www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se/...d-children.pdf - fairly interesting. (Finnish language brief: https://thl.fi/fi/-/koulujen-ja-paiv...startuntoihin- )Though it has to be noted that Finland never went into full lockdown. No curfews or anything. And pre-schools and lowest schools grades remained open. So even during the height of the epidemic there were news reports of school kids spending time together in groups (kinda defeating the purpose of it in a sense). So it is not exactly a comparison between two extremes.

And this isn't helping at all. Trump is not even attempting to control the virus in the US:

                  https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...?ocid=msedgdhp

The June 28 email to the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was ominous: A senior adviser to a top Health and Human Services Department official accused the CDC of “undermining the President” by putting out a report about the potential risks of the coronavirus to pregnant women.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.
