If whites can have both a national and racial identity then so too can blacks. I will not allow you to continue to strip me of my identity. It's bad enough I have to bear a name I have no actual heritage to. I cannot allow the white washing to go any further.

It's impossible to consider yourself as part of a group you were never accepted in anyway.
I believe that Benjamin Franklin, who didn't support slavery at all, said it correctly when he called us the American race. That's how I view it, no matter your ethnicity or skin color.

The only person who can strip you of your personal identity is you. By what you have written and posted above, you appear to be as much a divider as Trump is.

The original title of the poem that Keys wrote was 'The Defense of Fort McHenry' which occurred on 13-14 September 1814. The battle of Bladensburg outside of Washington occurred on 24 August 1814. Washington was taken and burned on the same day.

The British then set Baltimore as an objective and the battle of North Point, where the Maryland volunteer militia fought a delaying action against the British army under General Ross on 12 September 1814, Ross being killed in action.

The bombardment of Ft McHenry took place almost three weeks after Washington was burned-just a little longer than 'a couple days...'

'The Defense of Fort McHenry' was not made a song until the lyrics were set to the tune 'To Anacreon in Heaven' a British song. The song, while popular, did not become the US National Anthem until 1931.

I know all of this, I conducted a battle study for MCI when I was stationed there. It was longer than a couple of days, I worded that wrong.

Why didn't you bring up how the Brits got Keys?

Why no mention of the 'hireling and slave' explanation that I gave?

In the context of this thread and the claim that the Anthem is racists....I really thought you would make that point...

S/A, that was the second battle study that I conducted.

We shouldn't have to pretend race doesn't exist in order to be united. I think some people just want everyone to be the same, while others value our differences. But you are entitled to your beliefs.

Your claim that the Anthem is racist has been proven to be wrong.

I want everyone to be the same, doesn't matter what a person's differences are....everyone is the same and equal. Is there an issue with this belief?

We are all part of the human race.

I suggest 'Living in America' from James Brown :

Hand to hand, across the nation
              Living in America
              Got to have a celebration
              Rock my soul
You can make it a duet - with Trump and Biden doing a couplet each...

Clinton can do the intro, it will be a Utube hit in no time

              Yeah, uh! Get up, now!
              Ow! Knock out this!

There was no need to address the 'hireling and slave' line as you covered it well. I don't believe that the National Anthem is racist and I believe that was evident in my postings above. See post #22.

The November 3rd elections are going to be the most important ever. Either we all vote in person, not by mail, to keep our freedom, or we surrender to the new Civil War as a new Master Race is formed that bankrupts the country and turns us into a Socialist Regime under the control of Pelosi and the RACIST far left. This has all of the signs of what happened in the 30s in Germany as Hitler rose to power to establish his Master Race.

I see nothing wrong with mail-in voting especially during the pandemic.

I do agree that the upcoming election is an important one-it comes down to America or Trump.

How does voting by mail impair freedom in the US?

We already have a problem regarding racism and white supremacy because of the current occupant of the White House and that is the analogy with the 1930s in Germany.

And what 'civil war' are you talking about? And to what 'master race' are you referring? The far radical right is most certainly white supremacist and racist.

                        Regarding mail-in ballots...

                        https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...?ocid=msedgdhp

President Trump’s campaign about expanding mail-in voting has put him in conflict some Republicans who are promoting expansion in their states.

I would feel a lot better about it if 1,4 billion dollars in covid19 relief checks weren't mailed to dead people in the last three months.

Nothing wrong with the belief, I just don't agree with it. The world would be a boring place if everyone was the same. I value diversity. Not everyone else has to, there's nothing wrong with disagreeing.

No, I was proven right on the anthem. If the song wasn't racist then it wouldn't need to have a verse removed.
