There is the science and then there is policy. The relationship between the two is murky. First epidemiology is not an exact science. Second science can't tell you what is an acceptable death rate.

Those not concerned with the spread of the virus are ignoring that if containment has been more effective their would have been little political will to prolong it. And no I'm not ignoring the fact that the virus was everywhere before the lock down

      It works something like this:

Science drives policy where science uses a lot of facts and some guessing then the policy makers take the science, use a few facts from it and a lot of guessing to set the policy...

He is not in favor of masks, he is going with coughing and sneezing hygiene. As that is the purpose of masks In not sure you couldn't still make a case for masks.

Politics and making Political statements are all it is. Making people fear and distrust each other is how Radicals breed, and this is the best time to be a nasty little Radical in my lifetime. Crashing the economy is also high on their lest.
Garbage systems like Socialism can't offer anyone anything but a crumb, so the only way to make people turn to it in mass numbers is to fix it so that they can't even get a crumb without joining the Radicals.
Simple, and only effective if it is like Germany in 1933, Russia in 1917, and the list goes on.

There have been no new cases in my state for two days, and none in my coutry for ten, and yet our Tyrannical Governor has extended our imprisonment until July 6th.

I had some N-95 masks from years ago from when we were working with chemicals, I sent them all to my niece in Massachusetts.

            At the post office:

clerk: what's in the box for customs
            me: N95 masks
clerk: you're shipping N95 masks out of the country?
            me: yes, for my niece
            clerk: oh, cool

MOPP 4 won't protect you if don't have a decontamination system when you need to get out of it.

That would also be correct. So.....you need one of those every time you need to eat. Figure at least twice a day you need a decon room and then a clean room to get into. Plus you need to have deconned any packaging, food, etc.

Man, you'd go through a LOT of supplies to protect yourself......

California is buying 200 million N95's a month. When they start to arrive is anyone's guess.

Don't forget masks must be changed every time you want to take a sip of coffee. Can you imagine how many folks have that many masks? Pretty soon, folks will see how much money they are throwing away for $5 masks and will get desperate and start to re-use contaminated/used masks; thereby increasing their chance of contracting the virus (and any number of other illnesses.)

Nah, use a real CBRN mask. Then you can hook your canteen up and drink without taking it off.

The mask must be manufactured out of rated viral filtration material sized to blocked the viral particles. COVID particles are 125 microns in size; therefore the mask must be rated to a smaller size than that number or it will not block the viral particles. T-shirts, mufflers, handkerchiefs, knitted and crocheted items, bandanas, painting masks and used articles of clothing DO NOT meet the requirements.

The mask must be changed daily at minimum. It should be changed every time you return from outside. Moisture build-up from respiration and clogging from blocked particles renders the mask ineffective. The used mask must be destroyed, NOT placed in the garbage. It is now Contaminated Medical Waste.

You must remove all of your outerwear before entering your home and disinfect it or you will contaminate your entire household. You must then thoroughly scrub yourself from top to bottom with a properly rated disinfectant cleanser.

"Social distancing" is nonsense, since you will come in contact with contaminated surfaces everywhere you go. Everything around you is contaminated, if not by you yourself, then be everyone else, and it has been since the beginning.

Currently, nothing is being properly done and you and the rest of America are totally exposed and have been since this whole farce began.

FYI: I worked with lethal infectious disease patients for eight years.
Must have been a hell of a job you had. Did you have to suit up and wear a hazmat type outfit for your job?

I know one of the nurses Tony who works at a local hospital... He was a police officer for about 10 years in Virginia. Now he’s a registered nurse. When he moved to Buffalo he wasn’t allowed to join the buffalo police force he would’ve had to do the police academy all over again so he just decided to become a nurse.

Anyways this guy suits up more at the hospital than most of the other nurses he wears the L n 95 mask whereas some of the other nurses simply wear that blue mask and some of the other nurses actually take the blue mask off while they’re working. Hospital rules state all hospital workers have to wear the mask Through the full shift. Now normally A nurse or doctor working in the operation room always has to wear the mask. With coronavirus though everyone have to wear a mask. But it’s just that some of the workers don’t follow the rules and honestly it is so difficult to breath through the mask especially if it’s the LN 95. When Tony gets home he doesn’t even hug or kiss his kids or wife. He sleeps in a totally different bed. So he is really taking this virus seriously more so than other nurses and doctors I know who will sleep in the same bed as her and who will hug the kids. And this is a good guy and a good family man who works to support his family. I was quite taken back by his precautions but I admire the man.

Of course now it’s apparently mandatory in some states to have to wear a mask when one goes shopping or is within 6 feet of another person. I have mixed feelings on it because the fact is that some Americans have died of a virus and it is a brutal virus. Just imagine if one of our family members or one of us got the virus and started suffering. I Happen to live in New York state so we got a lot of cases here mostly in nyc we have our fair share in Western new York nothing like the city though. If Republicans and Democrats care about 9/11 they will also care about how fellow Americans in New York City are doing with regard to the virus

A difficult issue to address because we have to worry about jobs but also safety. That’s why federal government and state government need to take action instead of getting Americans back to work at least to produce medical supplies so if the virus comes back again in the fall we will be ready and we will not run out of ventilators and PPE equipment. Whole thing is a wake up call that America need to start bringing back to factory jobs and producing more of our own things

                                For the umpteenth time:

The current advice for using face masks is based on containing the wearer's large majority of DROPLETS FROM COUGHING AND SNEEZING. You know: that cloud of droplets flying through the air when you sneeze, which a decent person when in company tries to block with one's hand, but now the facemask replaces your hand.

IT'S THERE TO STOP DROPLETS FROM FLYING AROUND.
And you don't need a viral grade mask to block droplets.
