It’s been some time since our country was producing basic needed materials in abundance. We rely way too much on China and other countries to send us not only protective equipment but many other materials that we consume in this country

Before the Nixon era there was a tremendous amount of steel, auto medical equipment all made right in the United States of America. And during those times we had a strong upper and middle class. One of the lessons we can all learn from this virus and it’s affect on our country is that clearly we rely way too much on foreign imports and have been doing so for decades. Now more than ever it’s time to go back to that spirit we felt during the Eisenhower and Roosevelt years it was a Time of great American strength.

At least here in Buffalo there’s been renewed talking how we have nothing to fear but fear itself many people are saying this. And how in Buffalo and New York City the people are saying they want this country to change for the better and we need to be proud and build more things our self like we used to

there’s no more time to waste at all here Americans are dying every day from this virus. But all over the country there’s a spirit of positivity and people joining together. Now comes down to the local, state and federal governments for them to step it up and hear the voices of the people And end this importation of cheap medical supplies from other countries. To start using existing factories football field and baseball fields to create medical supplies. To improve our healthcare system. This has nothing to do with socialism, communism and has everything to do with pro democracy, pro Americanism

Being that we live in a democracy and being that we th vpeople elect our officials... It is the duty of our elected officials to stand by the will of the people. I can safely say that here in Buffalo and across the country we see Scenes of firetrucks and police officers putting their sirens on leaving their car and applauding the healthcare workers

So it’s time for our leaders across the board to get the job done build up the factories use existing factories use the existing football and baseball field to create our own medical supplies and ventilators. And more than that to bring back the steel an auto jobs bring back some pride to the country

98% of all Americans affected are surviving every day. Get that fact in mind and you will be fine.

The death rate is even lower than that. But that’s not the point we need to pay healthcare workers more money across-the-board because even with a low death Rate Essential workers are on the front line while retired people sit at home and do nothing and while other people just sit at home

The reason why we are in a situation it’s because of poor leader ship its been going on for too long. Importing cheap goods from other countries must come to an end.

Nixon ushered in both the EPA and OSHA. Both agencies were needed at the time to take care of major problems in pollution and workplace safety. The problem today is that they have become bloated agencies hell bent on achieving zero tolerance solutions to these problems. They are no longer cost effective and a major drag on productivity in America.

Now, that's not to say we should abolish either, we shouldn't. But, we need to put a choke and shock collar on both to reign in their march to destruction of the economy by demanding ever tighter standards. We need to start asking ourselves, "How much pollution can we allow?" not how to get rid of all pollution, and the same question goes for safety. "How safe is safe enough?" and the answer to that question isn't "Totally safe."

As it is, the EPA and OSHA have driven industries that have high costs in pollution and safety offshore to other nations were these standards are low or nonexistent. To bring them back we need to find reasonable standards for pollution and safety, not ones that seek to eliminate all pollution and make things completely safe. Only then might these industries return to America.

It is interesting today that for example more than ever single use plastic bags are needed. But so called environmentalist will tell us that plastic bags are dangerous for the environment. That somehow paper bags which take up more fuel to transport are somehow Safer compared to plastic bags. With the whole virus thing in New York State has now again allowed plastic bags back into usage.

I believe in doing as much as we can to stop pollution. But I also believe and know that this country must get back to the glory days. That includes common sense and via regulations not pushing things too far. As well as the stop sending jobs offshore workers in other countries and these are good people are paid a very low wage. I like the ideals of great leaders such as Woodrow Wilson in Franklin D Roosevelt believed in shipping a democracy and freedom overseas.

workplace safety was also largely addressed by Wilson and FDR as well as Republican leaders in the 20th century. They started at least by getting rid of the sweatshops where we saw 10-year-olds working many hours a day. The eight hour workday was introduced. Social Security was introduced all before the Nixon era. I know you’ve talked about how there was workplace deaths in America before World War II that’s not true though that’s just bad people trying to fill those ideas into your head. That never happened Not in the numbers whereupon World War II work place deaths that’s in America were higher than combat deaths.. it is true that pollution was more of an issue in this country in the steel plants that it is today. That was a serious issue and compensation should be paid out to folks who are affected by it which by the way compensation has been paid out to many of those folks. It’s part of the job as well firefighters and police officers know that they are going into the line of fire. If one works at a factory even today they have to take precautions

Workplace injury happens even today I see it here at the hospital All the time. These are burn victims they are engineers even who get burned on the job. Workplace injury during World War II is not the same thing as a workplace death. Somebody stabbing their toe at work on the job during World War II it’s not the same thing as a man dying on the battlefield in Iwo Jima or Normandy.

But I don’t know if you think that Nixon was a better president than Eisenhower or FDR I would disagree with you if you did. Nixon did some good things but I disagree with him shipping the jobs overseas and starting this process of importing cheap materials in Medicine from other countries. Look where we are today the governor of New York is negotiating with China to get 1000 ventilators. The governor of New York is a bad leader certainly no FDR certainly no Dwight D Eisenhower

I am not nor have I ever been so I’m sort of a overt environmentalist who is willing to for example get rid of gas powered cars, ban plastic bags that’s not the type of person I am and I don’t think that most Americans agree with banning plastic bags or banning gas powered cars. But I’m also not somebody who believes in government handouts and just giving away things. We should help out people who are fighting for this country though that’s common sense I believe whether they are on the battlefield or at the hospital fighting this virus

and I also like the ideals of American leaders such as Eisenhower who believe in the interstate highway system which connects Americans in which allows trucking and shipping to bring supplies to Americans all throughout the country

I think that China as well as Russia have a rich history and our country and those two countries should find ways to work together. But we don’t need a Chinese businessmen coming to America taking over factories and paying workers a non union wage of $13 an hour when in the same factory they may $29 an hour with a union before the takeover by the Chinese businessman. Of course I’d be nothing wrong if that same Chinese businessman paid the workers the same wages they used to get. See American factory on Netflix to understand what I’m talking about. Bottom line here like unions or not the point is something should be done about this it’s not right to have that happen in America because some of those workers are veterans

got to many Americans living paycheck to paycheck and that is serious issue with the virus regardless but we think about the virus it’s the government shut down our economy. So it’s a matter of time before things get very bad for poor Americans. This can be alleviated by using existing factories to the very least have Americans were poor or without a job to create protective equipment. Doesn’t have to be ventilators at the very least protective equipment for the hospital workers

Agreed; however, the job of healthcare workers is to work with the sick.
