And yet, nobody gave a dead rats tail about tariffs until Trump used them to correct unfair trade practices.

You could have left off everything after "...Trump used them."

And how exactly were the Americans planning to 'force' Canadians to drink American milk? Were they planning to invade and force you at gun point to drink it?

But when an American president uses the same tool other nations have used against our goods he is the bad guy.
Pure partisanship, because here is the clincher
Obama place tariffs on solar panels , tires, and steel , here is a quote from Pres. Obama,

President Obama stated on Jan. 24, 2012
: “I will not stand by when our competitors don’t play by the rules. We’ve brought trade cases against China at nearly twice the rate as the last administration – and it’s made a difference. Over a thousand Americans are working today because we stopped a surge in Chinese tires. But we need to do more. It’s not right when another country lets our movies, music, and software be pirated. It’s not fair when foreign manufacturers have a leg up on ours only because they’re heavily subsidized.”

You prefer Chinese products to Canadian products? Typical.

Address the context, Obama proudly pointed out his use of tariffs. Did you express your outrage?

At the time I thought Obama had done the right thing, Interestingly Chuck Schumer has supported Trump in his attempt to forge new trade agreements with China, Mexico and Canada

I did. Comparing something Obama did or didn't do is a distraction from what Trump is doing and very different. That is nothing more than 'Whataboutism.'

And Obama's policies, like them or not, pulled the US out of the recession and set the economy on course. Trump's policies very well might put the US on the path to a recession. The economy is beginning to slow down.

If it does, what will you and others do then? Still blame Obama? Get a grip and grow up. All you're doing is supporting a corrupt president no matter what he does and fill the forum with distractions in order to 'protect' Trump. That is nothing more than partisan politics.

So now you are posting what ifs, "Trumps policies might put the US on the path to a resession."
that is a what if. And one that is becoming harder to defend, as witnessed when Obama applied them, and when the Trump administration follow Obama's example.

When Obama placed tariffs the same what ifs were thrown about. But Obama and Trump as well as anyone sitting in the oval office has very few tools to work with when trying to leverage China to practice fair trade.

Your concerns are based in partisanship.

No, my concerns are based on the inept performance of Trump as president and the incompetence, duplicity and general dishonesty of the present administration.

Actually, American access ( and Canadian moostuff going south) is industrial milk products and not drinkin' milk. Various reasons for this.
