  • When you had options....who?

I'm starting this one since I, and I believe most of the rest of the forum that's not hard left, gets called "Trump Supporters" on the regular.

When you actually HAD options, options that weren't the most blatantly corrupt candidate in modern history or two irrelevancies, who did you vote for?

I voted for Rubio in the primary. Can I wax eloquent on why he was the best candidate? No. But he was my pick from the available field and the available information.

The problem the Republicans had in that primary were that Trump had a strong base of support, and the wide field of candidates diluted all other support bases in the Republican Party. And then our options were Hillary (eek) and Gary Johnson (quaint but irrelevant).

And after 3 years of being vilified as 'racists, fascists, actual nazis, and so forth' it's looking like our other option in the general election will be someone who is either an actual communist from the 70s era or someone who gropes everyone and can't remember what he had for breakfast yesterday. As an unaffiliated voter, I'll be doing my job and voting for someone at least sane in the Democratic Primary.

If you're going to insult us, at least give us someone to actually vote for. Insults for the sake of insults do nothing but drive all of us away from voting for anyone with D beside their name as it affiliates all Democrats with the hyperbolic A**holes that openly hate our very existence. Given that, who wouldn't vote for the side that's "hey, our guy's nowhere near perfect, but he doesn't hate you, and by the way would you like to have a beer and talk about it?".

I'm an Independent. If I knew for sure, or was relatively sure, that Hillary would lose I'd have supported a third party candidate. As it was, I voted against Hillary for Trump not because I liked Trump but because I sure as hell didn't want a corrupt, felonious, criminal, mendacious, evil, vicious, nasty, hag of woman being President. Hillary makes Nixon look like a saint.

This time around, the Democrats are running a pack of candidates that are just lame. You have the Three Stooges leading the pack. The crazy uncle that gropes little girls and nobody wants at the family reunion, the old party faithful Socialist that thinks Communism will win, and the rich lady who's as authentic as pleather who makes you cringe when she tries to be just one of the guys at the local bar.
Then there are the Seven Dwarfs that nobody can remember the names of...

What kind of useless choices are those? Worse, there's barely a moderate in the group. Most are selling a pack of idiocy in more taxes, more government, more bureaucrats running your life. Who would willingly choose that F'd up scenario?

Then you're doomed, because none of the Socialist Democratic candidates are anywhere near Republican. He ran independently without the official support of the Republicans, who are totally incompetent, incapable and ineffective.

I will be searching for a candidate who is the least corrupt, dishonest and actually appears capable of serving America. Whether or not one of those actually exists for this election is my greatest concern.

Anyone who is a Democrat. That is their goal and has been for decades. No one has ever said that Democrats are the sharpest knives in the drawer. They want to be coddled, protected and taken care of without the need to lift a finger, and with absolutely no commitment on their part. They willingly surrender their rights and freedoms in exchange for a babysitting government.

You are quite likely to see Michael Bloomberg running the pack.

I was going to vote for Rand Paul, but he pulled out of the race before PA could vote. So, I abstained from the primary and voted for Gary Johnson in the general.

For 2020, I was starting to consider the possibility of voting Trump. But, after his EO that prohibited college students from protesting against Israel, there's no chance in hell he gets my vote.

There's no way I can vote for a democrat either, so as it stands right now, I honestly don't care who wins. I'll vote write-in if I decide it's worth my time at all.

Exactly what should you call people who voted for Trump and defend everything he does? Trump supporter seems appropriate.

Pretty hypocritical to make that statement after voting for a guy that was the least "let's have a beer and talk about it" and most insulting candidate in the entire race. Actions carry consequences, I do not believe you are a victim here.

You hardly if ever post in defence of Trump.

No - "Trump supporters" on the ACG, are those that feel the irresistible need to counter every post critical of Trump with a similar or equal, critical comment towards Obama, Biden or …..forget her name,

                  Clinton, yes that's it

I was quite surprised you know him even, he's from Gent you know, about my age, a bit older, we should have a dedicated thread, I can tell things you wouldn't believe

Not the first "European emperor" from my hood either :

Ghent was one of the great cities of Europe between the 13th and early 16th centuries, its wealth based on the woollen trade.

Actually listened to his speech where he called the EU an empire. His justification for a European union army. Was quite interesting, felt like the veil was torn a bit on the EUs long term plans.

I dislike the eu. But I pay attention.

You'll never be given a candidate if you rely on RW media for information on candidates. Whoever RW media says is going to be the nominee, the base will agree and vote that way.

Hillary was clearly the better option, less corrupt and a better businessperson.
