  • Well, let's just go to war with Turkey

I mean, after all, if we don't we will be killing Kurds. And it seems like the entirety of the media and left want a war with Turkey.

There is one real justification, Turkey did invent 'the final solution' back in WWI. They are past masters of ethnic cleansing.

So warm up the C17s, pack the chutes, and get an Arc Light strike underway, it's time to bring 'freedom' to someone else......consequences, deaths, or anything else be damned.

No thanks. I'll wait for it to become the Democrats' problem if they win the election, and then demand that they all go along with their sons and daughters. Or, better yet, let Europe solve it's own problems for change.

Unless we plan to win, wars are a total waste of everything, and we quit planning to win after WWII.

What do we do when ISIS is resurrected? MIGA = Make ISIS Great Again

Look, I don't want "endless war" either ... but now we're just going to have to go back into Syria again. It would have been better to do a gradual withdrawal when the situation on the ground is stable and the ISIS detainees have been dealt with. Instead we left, ISIS detainees escaped the camps and the Turks came in and exterminated the Kurds. Guess what? Now you have endless war anyways.

There's a principle involved here. The problem is, Trump has no principles except to make money at others' expense.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

Trump has now announced that there will be sanctions against Turkey for their actions against the Kurds in Syria by an executive order.
There will be 50% tariff on steel products and no deal on a 100 billion dollar trade deal which may force Turkey to curb their attacks on the Kurds.

Take note: Trump is 'close to applying harsh new sanctions' on Turkey. This was as of 1619 today:

                https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/14/polit...ria/index.html

Facing scathing criticism from Republican lawmakers and members of his own military, President Donald Trump on Monday signaled he was close to applying harsh new sanctions on Turkey following its incursion into northern Syria. But even as he was preparing the economic punishment, a bipartisan group on Capitol Hill was finalizing their own sanctions, threatening to undermine the President's attempts at confronting the growing crisis.

On Monday afternoon, Trump tweeted a statement saying he would soon authorize via executive order new sanctions on current and former Turkish officials. He said he'd also reimpose heavy duties on Turkish steel and cut off trade talks.

"Turkey's military offensive is endangering civilians and threatening peace, security, and stability in the region," Trump's statement read. "I have been perfectly clear with President Erdogan: Turkey's action is precipitating a humanitarian crisis and setting conditions for possible war crimes."

In defending his decision to remove US troops from northern Syria, President Donald Trump echoed talking points from Turkish officials, suggesting that Kurdish forces might be purposely allowing ISIS detainees to escape camps and prisons

"Kurds may be releasing some to get us involved," Trump tweeted Monday morning.

The Associated Press is much more reliable:

                        https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world...cid=spartandhp

Targeting Turkey's economy, President Donald Trump announced sanctions Monday aimed at restraining the Turks' assault against Kurdish fighters and civilians in Syria -- an assault Turkey began after Trump announced he was moving U.S. troops out of the way.

Meanwhile, the Americans were scrambling for Syria's exits, a move criticized at home and abroad as opening the door to a resurgence of the Islamic State fighters who were the reason U.S. forces came in the first place.

The Turks began attacks in Syria last week against Syrian Kurdish fighters, longtime U.S. battlefield allies against the IS group. On Monday, Syrian government troops moved north toward the border region, setting up a potential clash with Turkish-led forces.

Would Turkey have gone in and attacked American troops?

OP brother remember the great Mustafa Kemal. Whom brought equality to his people...he was a George Washington of his time.

Other then that there is no war talk with Turkey. And 20% of Turkeys military forces are made of Turkish Kurds. Turkey is one of the few Muslim majority countries with dignity and honor and their history is one to respect. So many Catholics across the USA not only respect their ancestors but also the Seljuk Turks whom even the Crusaders admired. The Turks and Catholics have this brotherhood and it wont be shattered. Long live FDR, long live Ataturk.
