    ...
'When they go low? Dems navigating nasty race against Trump'

'President Donald Trump told American congresswomen of color to
    "go back"
to where they came from. He vowed to revive a racial slur to tear down Elizabeth Warren, promoted a wild conspiracy theory linking a past political opponent to the death of a high-profile sex offender and blamed Friday's stock market slide on a low-polling former presidential candidate.'

'And that was just over the past six weeks.'

'With 435 days until the next presidential election, the Democrats seeking to oust Trump are bracing for the nastiest contest in the modern era, one that will almost certainly tear at the moral and cultural fabric of a deeply divided nation.'

'Knowing what lies ahead once their own divisive primary is decided, Democrats are confronting a critical question: Just how low should they go to push back against Trump?''
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

Nastier than the 1828 presidential election?

“There is pollution in the touch, there is perdition in the example of a profligate woman,” claimed an editorial in the Massachusetts Journal in 1828. A presidential election approached, with Andrew Jackson campaigning to unseat President John Quincy Adams, and for the first time in the country’s history, the candidates’ wives were being dragged into the fray—especially Rachel Jackson, the “profligate woman” in question. Not only was Rachel a divorcée, but rumor had it that she and Andrew had lived together before she was legally separated from her husband. In papers across the nation she was called a bigamist, an adulteress and a wh*re, and critics questioned whether her character was suitable for the White House.

“The campaign which preceded this election was the most abusive and slanderous that his enemies could contrive and was not equaled in American history until the 20th century,” writes historian Harriet Chappell Owsley. “The effect on Rachel of being the object of insults and abuse was devastating. The happy, fun-loving woman, saddened by the slanders withdrew from the unfriendly eyes of her persecutors.”

"Rachel Jackson, the Scandalous Divorcee Who Almost Became First Lady," by Lorraine Boissoneault,[i] Smithsonian Magazine,[/i[ 15 Jun 2017
Whatever will be done during that 2020 election season, it surely has its analogue in history. Let us not resort -- continuously -- to such unsubstantiated hyperbole. It makes us look like shrill screaming hysterics.

Biden helps make the case for Trump's re-election

Biden made a pointed comment about the state of his brain over the weekend. “I want to be clear, I’m not going nuts,” Biden said during a campaign rally in New Hampshire —

Mudslinging has been a part of elections since the beginning.

I think the big change came when Clinton attacked the voters as deplorables. The dems have been attacking voters since then.

If the Democrats are running a Progressive Leftist, Socialist, expand-the-government, tax and spend uber liberal, which appears to be the case, then I'm voting for their opponent however loathsome they may be because the last thing you want running the country is a Progressive Leftist, Socialist, expand-the-government, tax and spend uber liberal.
They'll tank the economy, create a national maliase of social unrest, and basically screw everything up for decades afterwards, just like Obama did.

Maybe Madonna can play her in the film. . . . .

If I recall correctly, the third Mrs Peron's term ended with a military junta taking power, which decided that what Argentina needed was "a short, victorious war to stem the tide of revolution." Now that I think of it, I don't think that the US should go emulating the Argentine experience.

Given Ms Daniels' . . . . unique skill set, I bet she can singlehandedly revitalize American metallurgy.

Didn't Donald Trump inherit one of the strongest economies since the end of WW2?

Obama called those who disagreed with him racists and "bitter clingers".
I think that was worse than what Hillary said.

Even the national debt, which seems to be a none subject, has increase immensely under Trump with out the justification it did under Obama with the bale out of banks and support for the auto industry. Trumps increase is basically due to his tax cuts to the rich. Cutting income but increasing spending is just plain MAD
