  • White Supremacist Caught with Bomb Material - Planning Attack on Jews and LGBT

A 23-year-old Las Vegas man who allegedly wanted to attack Jews and patrons of an LGBTQ bar was arrested on suspicion of possessing parts to make a bomb, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada said Friday.

Conor Climo, who was arrested Thursday, was connected to white supremacists though encrypted online conversations, federal prosecutors said.

"Threats of violence motivated by hate and intended to intimidate or coerce our faith-based and LGBTQ communities have no place in this country," Nicholas A. Trutanich, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada, said in a statement.

Glad they got to him before any acts of violence were committed. Make an example of him. Throw the book at him, hopefully it will discourage others.

Okay... So? This guy's a loser who had grandiose ideas that would never come to fruition. Read the piece.

He had some "electronic components" and wanted to make a bomb... No explosives apparently. No casing. A design? Maybe, but the article doesn't say.
That he had a bolt action rifle and a AR-15 style rifle is nothing of particular note. Millions of Americans have one of each.

He wanted to "mobilize an eight-man sniper platoon" smacks of playing too many FPS video games and being delusional.

Yea, the guy's a little bit of a danger and rolling him up is a good thing. But, if he gets ten years in prison, all that will do is further radicalize him.

So he shouldn't go to prison?

That's odd...why did they only charged him with one count of possession of an unregistered firearm?

That is exactly what it sounds like; a 23 year old lost in the fake FPS video game world.

I met a couple of this sort working in the federal system. In one case, after reading his PSI and case file, I was convinced ATF set the guy up to pad somebody's resume. So, grain of salt...

Force him to go on a grand tour of Pride Parades throughout the US. Make him ride the lead float in each.

Depends if he really did anything beyond talk a lot of smack or not. Being a complete and total a-hole isn't a crime-- yet...

It seems that way, for so called black extremists anyway. Part of Trump's crack down on blacks involves arresting them for being a jerk on social media:

Rakem Balogun thought he was dreaming when armed agents in tactical gear stormed his apartment. Startled awake by a large crash and officers screaming commands, he soon realized his nightmare was real, and he and his 15-year-old son were forced outside of their Dallas home, wearing only underwear.

Handcuffed and shaking in the cold wind, Balogun thought a misunderstanding must have led the FBI to his door on 12 December 2017. The father of three said he was shocked to later learn that agents investigating “domestic terrorism” had been monitoring him for years and were arresting him that day in part because of his Facebook posts criticizing police.

Anyway, planning a terror attack with intent is a crime. Intent was shown when he tried to recruit someone, and in building a bomb. Obvious crime!

So, what's your solution, hit him in the nose with a rolled up newspaper and say "bad boy."

Mine would be to give him maybe a year in prison at most with a 3 to 5 year tail (parole) on that. That takes away his 'toys' and keeps him on front street for visibility. Of course, that all depends on what he's actually doing and was caught with.

Not if he didn't have some actual means to carry it through. Planning to get together a "platoon" of snipers isn't going to be cheap or easy. If this guy had no means to do it and was just a backyard ninja type then he doesn't deserve a massive smackdown. Same goes for building a bomb. Did he even have an actual design in mind or just some random junk he thought would work?

The feds will make everything he got caught with into a "fish story."

Seen that more than once reading case files and PSI's.

The FBI or ATF will take this (Ruger 10/22)

and make it sound like the guy had this: ( a Ruger 10/22 that has been "tacticalized."). They'll say he had "thousands of rounds of ammunition when it was almost all .22 caliber cartridges.
