  • Terror as Deterrent

The Trump administration has resorted to terrorizing illegal immigrants by again separating parent from children in ICE raids in order to deter illegal immigration. That is both despicable and monstrous.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...cid=spartandhp

'President Trump on Friday defended the raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) this week in Mississippi, calling them "a very good deterrent."'

'Trump told reporters at the White House that the raids dissuade immigrants from entering and residing in the country illegally.'

'"I want people to know that if they come into the United States illegally, they're getting out. They're going to be brought out. And this serves as a very good deterrent," he said.'

'ICE agents arrested roughly 680 people in Wednesday's raids, which targeted workers in poultry processing plants.'

'Around 300 detainees were released Thursday. ICE spokesman Bryan Cox told reporters they were "returned to the place where they were originally encountered."'

'Cox added that detainees with child care issues who were not subject to mandatory detention would be "expeditiously processed and returned to the point of apprehension so that they can get to their child or other dependents."'

'Still, critics say the raids were unnecessary and politically motivated.'

'"Once again, this Administration has separated families and left innocent children without their parents, simply for political purposes motivated by racism and prejudice," said Domingo Garcia, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens. "President Trump is targeting immigrant families so that he can play the race card and score cheap political points in the 2020 elections."'

'Trump on Friday defended the unannounced raids.'

'"The reason is because you have to go in, you can't let anybody know, otherwise when you get there nobody will be there," Trump told reporters when asked about the surprise raids.'

Once again, were the plant managers and owners arrested?

Once again, you cry moan, wail, and nash your teeth, but offer no viable solution other than to forgive and forget.

If you came home from work to find a homeless family had broken in and set up residence in your house, would you ask the police to mail them a ticket and let them stay? That is essentially what you're asking the country to do with illegal immigrants.

It isn't whining, merely pointing out cruelty on the part of the Trump administration.

The rest of your posting is just horse manure, besides presenting an illogical fallacy.

        https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/09/opini...yes/index.html

        'The cruelty never stops.'
'On Wednesday, just hours before President Donald Trump arrived in Texas following the massacre in El Paso, more than 600 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested hundreds of workers — who were believed to be working without proper authorization — across Mississippi. In one day, agents conducted the largest single-state immigration raid in history, rounding up about 680 immigrants.'

'Coming less than a week after the El Paso mass shooting, these raids represent the Trump administration's gross insensitivity to the Latino community. These workplace raids are an ineffective, wasteful use of resources. Worst of all, they will result in little besides separating families and traumatizing communities.'

'The timing of the Mississippi raids was troubling because Latinos across the country are feeling targeted in the wake of the El Paso shooting. Because of their ethnicity, a white supremacist killed 22 people. So, the president could have postponed the raids, as he has done with other enforcement actions before. At his word, ICE would have stood down. Instead, before the Latino victims in Texas are buried, Trump chose to allow the targeting of Latinos by the government.''What's more, while in El Paso the president and his wife posed with an infant who is now an orphan because of the mass shooting. In the photo, reportedly arranged at the request of representatives of the White House, Melania Trump is smiling, while Trump is grinning and giving a thumbs up sign, as though they were at a red-carpet event. This image is beyond offensive, as it was the president's rhetoric that led to the baby's parents being killed. That any president, much less the one who locked up children, and the first lady who wore a "I really don't care do U?" jacket on a prior border visit, would use a child as a prop is repulsive.'

'Meanwhile, children in Mississippi were wailing for their parents.
        '

        Perhaps the following is appropriate:

'First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out.

Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out.

Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out.

And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.'-Martin Niemoller.

If it is cruelty to separate criminal actors from their children while being detained, then the same cruelty happens daily by every police force in the country, and has for centuries. Arguing against that is an illogical fallacy!

It is exactly what you are promoting. That you would argue otherwise is dishonest logic and nothing more.

Trump isn't "terrorizing" illegal immigrants he's having them arrested and deported for their crimes. That's how it should be. If criminals are afraid, that's a good thing... a damn good thing.

The threat of losing your children through the actions of the government is the application of terror.

No, it isn't. Terrorism is defined as the use of violence in the furtherance of political goals. The threat of losing your children due to your criminal activity is not terrorism, it's the state taking control of your children because you are a criminal involved in criminal activity. Illegal immigration is a criminal activity. Identity theft is a criminal activity. Tax evasion is a criminal activity. These are common crimes that illegal immigrants commit. Their children should be taken away when the parents go to jail to await trial for their crimes.

If the parents were drug dealers their children would be removed. If the parents were violent criminals their children would be removed. If you get caught driving drunk or recklessly with your children present, they are removed. Why should illegal immigration and any associated crimes be treated differently?
