  • President Trump Delivers Lifesaving Deregulation

Trump saves an estimated 43,000 lives... surprised no one is talking about this.

How many of you noticed the most life-changing story of the week? Yesterday, President Trump made a stunning speech announcing regulatory changes that will save thousands of American lives each year.

As the President noted, roughly 100,000 Americans with kidney disease are awaiting a transplant from a donor. About 20,000 Americans are awaiting transplants of other organs.

These estimates are, if anything, on the low side. Indeed, there are many people who never bother with the transplant waiting list because, under the current system, their prospects of receiving a transplant are so low. Last year, there were about 21,000 kidney transplants in the United States, but the transplant waiting list has remained stuck in the 90,000 to 100,000 person range for some years. If you are old, or even a young person in frail health, you won’t receive a kidney. Donor kidney’s are reserved for more “deserving” recipients. Shockingly, it’s estimated that 43,000 Americans die prematurely each year because they don’t receive a life-saving kidney transplant. For context, this exceeds the number of people who die in car accidents each year.

Dismantling the nanny state will place responsibility back where it belongs, on the individual.

Trump has made access to experimental drugs easier. I'm sure there are a lot of Democratic ambulance chasers just waiting to sue anyone they can over untested drugs ignoring the fact their clients were dying. The bureaucratic state is great for unscrupulous lawyers because they profit from the confusion of regulation and the easy targets it creates. Like all leftists their perfect is the enemy of the good. Of course untested drugs will cause premature deaths but only those willing to accept risk take full advantage of life's opportunities.

The Dems can't wait to cancel this out if they win the election. The survival of the nanny state depends on it.

What does the nanny state have to do with giving people more money to donate kidneys?

Best example of a nanny state we have is with the patriot act, which came under the watch of a republican president. Anyone want to talk about deregulating that, or does partisanship trump small government?

It should allow compensation to donors in addition to the payment of lost wages and expenses. Reasonable levels of compensation should be enough to eliminate the shortages of kidneys and livers entirely. This would require action by the Congress to reform the National Organ Transplant Act.
Please do, it's good to know I can buy a new kidney or liver, if the need arises

No, the best recent example is Obamacare. In one stroke, the US government gained effective control of the health insurance industry. They could regulate prices, set policy requirements, and basically dictate to insurers the terms and conditions under which they operate. That is Statist Capitalism (a form of Socialism) in action and the quintessential nanny state.

Whether we need the Patriot Act or not, and it's operative means is quite debatable. But, it was put in place as a means to, theoretically, secure the US against terrorist acts. That is a primary function of the federal government-- securing the territory of the US against enemies foreign and domestic-- since the founding of the country.
The social-welfare state is not a function of the federal government and never has been. But, it exists and it is the true "nanny state."

The nanny state currently controls access to things like this through comprehensive regulation...you know...the stuff we've been talking about all of this time.

So you want to start a black market in organ? What do you think the most likely source of a readily available organ will be? Provided to you by Mexico, the nation that is currently trafficking human beings across our borders in large numbers, human beings who cannot be traced or accounted for?

Or would you prefer a "donor organ" hot out of the body of some other Third World poor stooge who never had a say in it?

Right now, you can disappear in a Mexican city and wake up in a tube of ice in some crappy motel room minus a kidney or something else you can live without. Can you imagine how bad it be if it's legal in America to accept an organ that has been "donated"?

I think you guys are misunderstanding exactly what has changed. The regulations that control transplants and payments are still in place.
