II have the impression, form the prev. discussion, that a lot of posters were grasping at this phenomenon as proof that the 'crats' got the facts wrong. Nothing could be further from the truth.
        Reg,

How many tourists to GNP are going to go online to the USGS survey for the "full story" versus depend upon the signage in front of them when looking at the glaciers?

The "prev. discussion" as I understand was with regards to misleading statements and conclusions on those signs, mainly that "...the glaciers will all be gone by 2020." Now the USGS has engaged some CYA, removing those signs and revising their "cherry pick" to '... sometime in the near future.'

Not like we haven't seen CYA before from either the 'crats or some posters here.

My above posts were to provide sources for further information, to those willing to through such, and beyond short, sometimes misleading "soundbites".

I provided 8+ sources, of which zerohedge is one, so everyone could have a selection for their "cherry picking".

          But speaking of zerohedge, some select excerpts;
          ...
In recent years the National Park Service prominently featured brochures, signs and films which boldly proclaimed that all glaciers at GNP were melting away rapidly. But now officials at GNP seem to be scrambling to hide or replace their previous hysterical claims while avoiding any notice to the public that the claims were inaccurate. Teams from Lysander Spooner University visiting the Park each September have noted that GNP’s most famous glaciers such as the Grinnell Glacier and the Jackson Glacier appear to have been growing - not shrinking - since about 2010. (The Jackson Glacier—easily seen from the Going-To-The-Sun Highway—may have grown as much as 25% or more over the past decade.)
          ...
The centerpiece of the visitor center at St. Mary near the east boundary is a large three-dimensional diorama showing lights going out as the glaciers disappear. Visitors press a button to see the diorama lit up like a Christmas tree in 1850, then showing fewer and fewer lights until the diorama goes completely dark. As recently as September 2018 the diorama displayed a sign saying GNP’s glaciers were expected to disappear completely by 2020.
          ...

But at some point during this past winter (as the visitor center was closed to the public), workers replaced the diorama’s ‘gone by 2020’ engraving with a new sign indicating the glaciers will disappear in “future generations.”
          ...

A common trick used by the National Park Service at GNP is to display old black-and-white photos of glaciers from bygone years (say, “1922”) next to photos of the same glaciers taken in more recent years showing the glaciers much diminished (say, “2006”). Anyone familiar with glaciers in the northern Rockies knows that glaciers tend to grow for nine months each winter and melt for three months each summer. Thus, such photo displays without precise calendar dates may be highly deceptive.

Last year the Park Service quietly removed its two large steel trash cans at the Many Glacier Hotel which depicted “before and after” engravings of the Grinnell Glacier in 1910 and 2009. The steel carvings indicated that the Glacier had shrunk significantly between the two dates. But a viral video published on Wattsupwiththat.com showed that the Grinnell Glacier appears to be slightly larger than in 2009.
          ...

          ...
          https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-...one-2020-signs

So we had USGS providing some misleading and perhaps inaccurate signage/literature/displays, now back-peddled and CYA'd, along with implications that 'when they ALL melt away' is all in 'human hands', having nothing to do with natural processes that resulted in no glaciers being there between the period from 12,000 to 7,000 years ago.

G David,I selected the most moderate of your ":links".

on townhall, we find goebbelisms such as:They’re wrong about everything. This applies to the wider liberal media, but it especially applies to the environmental Left that has been preaching doomsday since Earth Day was created. The appalling condescension from this crew, despite peddling straight trash for years is exceedingly entertaining. It’s great because you know what the ending is—these folks eating it…hard. We had global cooling hysteria in the 1970s. It never happened. Now, we’re in the throes of this so-called global warming chapter, where we need to enact this Green New Deal by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) because in 12 years—we’re all toast or something. Funny, we’ve heard all of these predictions before. And now, people are saying by 2050, if nothing is done, we’re cooked. So, which is it, experts? Well, while you cobble together another wrong analysis, let’s go to Glacier National Park in Montana, where the signs indicating that the ice masses would be gone by 2020 have been removed because the area has been pounded by snow for years. Jazz Shaw touched on this over at Hot Air, citing the post by Jeff Dunetz who delivered a sledgehammer to this narrative:

Quoting these sites as sources, G david, simply demeans your arguments.

THE GLACIERS IN Glacier NATIONAL PARK ARE RECEDING AND ALL THE BLURB POSTED DOES NOT TIP THE USGS EVIDENCE.

While the ACC/AGW "gorebots" cry that Greenland's ice and glaciers are melting, Glacier Girl and the rest of the "Lost Squadron" had between 250-300 feet of ice pile atop them before she was pulled out 50 years later in 1992. IIRC it takes about 10-12 inches of snow to pack down into an inch of ice, so a bit of snow fell there in those fifty years.
