  • Deadly Border Shootout

US Customs and Border Patrol killed a man who refused to stop at the checkpoint entering the US from Mexico. First, I assumed it was a migrant but he turned out to be an American. For the man to engage border agents in a fierce gun fight, his cargo must be very high value. His precious cargo were 2 Chinese nationals.

BEAUMONT, CA Authorities Wednesday publicly identified a 23-year-old Riverside County man who allegedly opened fire on U.S. Customs and Border Patrol personnel during an apparent human-smuggling attempt at San Ysidro Port of Entry, prompting them to return fire, killing him.

Travis James Eckstein of Beaumont died at the scene of Monday evening's shootout at the international border crossing, according to San Diego police.

The events that led to the deadly gunfire began about 7:45 p.m., when Eckstein refused to stop for CBP officers after driving out of Mexico into a secondary inspection area at the port facility, SDPD Lt. Matt Dobbs said.

Probably quite a paycheck involved. It will be interesting to learn why those two Chinese wanted to illegally enter America to begin with.

Once we know who they are, we'll know why. There's very little info on the 2, only their age and sex.

Quite a bit of Chinese immigration these days, both legal and illegal. Many end up in sweatshops, and the like. ICE raided the local China Buffet last year, and took out all the women... at least those who did not speak English. Here in SE Michigan, Asian immigrants outnumber Hispanics with about 50% being from the Subcontinent, 25% Chinese, 15% Middle Eastern, then Korean and the rest. The numbers from a News article a couple years back.

Well, we'll have plenty of time to find out. I'm sure the two are being charged with felonies as accessories to the shooter's crime.

It might be not so much to do with the identity of the illegals as how much time the shooter would get if arrested - especially if he already had previous convictions - he simply might have been prepared to take the risk rather than do more jail time.

Open borders create humanitarian crisis. California is the poster child for what happens when you invite third world people to a place where they cannot thrive. It is immoral to encourage people to make the dangerous journey to where they not only may not thrive but where they are often exploited. Even legal immigration often deprives the donor county of talent they desperately need.

Whatever the horrors are people are fleeing those conditions cannot resolved by migration. A strong border defense is a symbolic gesture that ends decades of hypocrisy on the part of the left and right which talked about protecting domestic labor while quietly encouraging the importation of cheap foreign labor disrupting the real wealth tax base

We are now near the end of are ability to finance national debt, our infrastructure is collapsing, welfare has become a lifestyle, medical systems are in a crisis, and education is failing. The stress of immigration may be the straw that breaks the camels back. It isn't going to help anyone if the golden goose is killed.

Except that we are NOT talking abut "immigration", but about an unsanctioned invasion of poor people and those who cannot cope. Immigration is a legal process entirely controlled by the government with established quotas, and can be turned on or off at will.

We are making very little effort to actually stop the invasion of illegals, thanks to the caveman mentality of Democrats.

It's all about resistance to Trump. He's the only president to give a hoot. I blame old Ronnie for our present troubles. He did the first amnesty. It's been downhill ever since.

Yes, it has. Nancy must have read the stars wrong on that one.

Not unexpected - here we find that many people arrested for trying to smuggle migrants into Britain, are Brits.

Makes sense - if you want someone to smuggle someone or something into the US, you''d hire a US American to do it, not a Mexican.
