First nations is oxymoronic. The concept of nations barely existed before the twentieth century.

Considering the vagaries of genetics as they relate to the concept of race Caucasian is also oxymoronic. Not all western European's trace their genetic lineage back to the Caucasus mountains.

There is no need to dilute the English language to correct historical errors and the people that do so have ulterior motives that are contemptible. Empathy is not an excuse for stupidity.
Since when did speaking a language equate to some racial group? Language =/= race.

For instance is Alberto Fujimori, the 62nd Prime Minster of Chile, Hispanic or Asian?

Hispanic = relating to Spain or to Spanish-speaking countries, especially those of Latin America.

Trying to sort through all the racial distinctions covered under Hispanic would be difficult. If we are going to have a discussion about race we can start by getting the definitions right.

Well, is Hispanic about a language or a race? Being of Spanish decent hardly should be a qualifier. It'd be as ridiculous as making Germanic, or Scandinavian a race. Do we include Brazilians who speak Portuguese? Are persons from the Netherlands Antilles or persons living in Belize Hispanic because of geographic location?
The whole Hispanic thing is IMHO asinine BS.

Since when did speaking a language become the equivalent of a racial characteristic? Again, it's nonsense. And, since when did Hispanics become a "minority?" There are more "Hispanics" living in the Americas than English speakers.

It is just a word or it's just semantics. People may take exception to the phrase it's just semantics but honestly the important thing is that everyone adhere to the accepted definition of words. Personally I prefer the Oxford Dictionary.
