Pending a thread of it's own and relating to the divide in this nation which seems a major focus of this thread ...

The One Trait That Predicts Trump Fever

Oostburg, Wis., and Chevy Chase, Md., couldn’t be more different. But in the 2016 primary, they both rejected Trump. They have something else in common, too.
    ....
Sadly, the American dream is dead.”

After rambling, off script, for most of his 50-minute speech to announce his presidential candidacy in June 2015, Donald Trump returned to his written remarks for the final section. He delivered these somber words slowly, pausing for emphasis.

“Sadly ... the American dream is dead,” he said.

In the cavernous lobby of Trump Tower, an eager supporter filled that pregnant silence. “Bring it back!”

Sure enough, that was Trump’s promise and the final line, the bottom line, of his candidacy: “But if I get elected president, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make America great again!”

This became his mantra. "Make America Great Again." The premise of that motto—the American dream is dead—carried the day in state after state, and it drew boisterous crowds at rallies in places like Lowell, Mass.; Beaumont, Texas; Mobile, Ala.—“We’re running on fumes. There’s nothing here."—and Springfield, Ill.

“These rally towns,” the Washington Post reported in an early effort to decode Trump’s meaning, “lag behind the country and their home states on a number of measures. Their median household incomes are lower, and they often have lower rates of homeownership or residents with college degrees.”
    ....

In the case of Chevy Chase, the key to understanding Trump opposition in the primary has a lot to do with understanding the strength of the community, just as it does in a Wisconsin town called Oostburg. Oostburg is different from Chevy Chase in almost every way except for one crucial similarity: Both of these villages are knit together by the kind of community institutions and civil society that have disintegrated in most of the United States in the past several decades. These places illustrate a kind of social cohesion that undermines what Trump says about the direction of the American dream. And so the stories of Chevy Chase and Oostburg, two places that rejected Trump, help us to understand why so many other places in the United States embraced him and why they might do so again in 2020.

Also local township laws regarding what you can and cannot do on your own property However freedom of speech and press is alive and well and every day I see nothing but negativity from it.

Having said this, every hour of every day there are millions of people still crying over the 2016 election and blatantly attacking our POTUS. SNL does a Trump comedy by Alec Baldwin, Bill Maher's entire show for the last 2 years is based on having panels come in to bash the POTUS along with that idiot Maher. They are still investigating election fraud, Russian conspiring, blocking a border wall which is just common sense, and teams of reporters/investigators spending every minute of every day to dig up something - anything - on our POTUS to denigrate him.

WTF is wrong with this country?? Wake up people you are stuck with Trump until 2020 like it or not

What do you think would happen to the people perpetrating my above statements if they lived in Russia and made Putin into a nationwide beating bag ???

              There you have it!

Proof that none of this is really about anything Trump is all about.

For Eight years, these fools were driving themselves insane, defending the indefensible and lying through their teeth every day, day in day out.... and it really took a toll on their sanity.

Now, its revenge time, and that's really all there is too it.

IMHO, ignoring 99% is the right way to go, but pounce on the really easy stuff. They always stick their necks out too far.

Looking over the list, former lawyer, congress member and governor is more likely..

Traditionally, when things got screwed up America elected a former military leader to the presidency. This tradition was broken when General Colin Powell, arguably one of the most qualified candidates in history, declined.

It's about time we elected another one.

Traditionally???? Really? Other than Ike we got to go back to Grant and he was no prize.

Powell would have been a shoe in

I would have voted for Powell myself, but he felt that his wife's condition wouldn't allow him to run unhindered, and then his performance in front of the UN Security Council sealed it. Why he did that I'll never know, but if he ever had an inkling of running, that presentation rendered him unelectable.

Its good to see the thread with some intelligent posts on the nature of 21st century media control. My OP was basically a rant on how I feel about what's going on and followed up by a rant on how illegal immigrants have affected my quality of life.

I explained how I am dealing with the 2 issues but man the computer/me/smartphone generation is going to be screwed up because of this crap. I remember when Trump got elected there were hundreds of posts of high school and college kids crying. They were led to believe that Trump was the equivalent of Hitler.

While we Conservatives didn't quite get that hysterical, one could say that when Obama got elected many of us that that Mao and his 'Little Red Book' followers had seized the White House and the Constitution was threatened. While it had been a potential for some time, BHO was the catalyst that resulted in the spontaneous and grass roots appearance of the TEA Party.
