It's being reported that ISIS has taken 700 hostages in an area of Syria controlled by US backed forces.

The Russian leader said the depraved terrorists had expanded its control in territory controlled by US and US-backed forces.

ISIS issued Russia with an ultimatum and vowed to execute ten people every day.

Speaking in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, Putin said the hostages included several US and European nationals.

Putin told the Valdai discussion forum in Sochi: "They have issued ultimatums, specific demands and warned that if these ultimatums are not met they will execute 10 people every day.
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem and Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari spoke together and praised their countries’ victories over ISIS.

Mr al-Muallem said that the defeat of ISIS "will benefit all the countries of the region and the world”.

Over the past seven years, Syria has faced battles with not only ISIS but airstrikes from Israeli fighter jets as well.
In Washington, the US military cast doubt on Putin's claims.

Commander Sean Robertson, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement: "While we have confirmed that there was an attack on an IDP (internally displaced persons) camp near (Deir-al Zor) last week, we have no information supporting the large number of hostages alleged by President Putin and we are skeptical of its accuracy.

Do we really need a reason or excuse to bomb the snot out of ISIS?

I guess the question is, how have we allowed ISIS to hold 700 hostages on US controlled territory and if Syria and Russia are fighting against ISIS, what is the US doing. But, that depends on whether or not you believe Putin.

Bearing in mind that multiple politicians, including Trump, have claimed that the US is aiding terrorists in Syria. Putin's claim, again if true, would seem to validate that.

To answer the thread title: certainly not the OP.

The question is, if we're fighting ISIS why haven't we bombed every square inch of their territory into a pile of smoldering rubble, then sprayed it all with flamethrowers, shot every animal we've found (two and four legged), and salted the earth underneath?

You are running scared. It's OK, really. Don't panic. The USA does not need to engage in the mass slaughter of civilians to keep ISIS at bay.

Extend him exactly the same courtesy he does to us on a daily basis, you mean?

Assuming you are not a sock puppet, you might not want to get quite so snarky until you get a bit more familiar with this place and the posters.

Not the OP, or the OP's source? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
