  • State Demands Christian US Filmmakers Make Same-Sex Films or Face Jail Time

I think this is a bit much.

A Christian couple who owns a media company is suing the state of Minnesota after being threatened with fines and imprisonment if they refuse to make films involving same-sex marriage.

Carl and Angel Larsen, through their company Telescope Media Group, want to enter the wedding industry, but due to their religious beliefs do not want to create films celebrating same-sex marriages.

Minnesota’s Human Rights Act stipulates that if the owners produce films about traditional Christian marriages between one man and one woman, they must also produce films about unions that violate their Christian views, CBN News reported.

Another case of the company needing to put a strong disclaimer on their product when they feel the need to. So, they make a same-sex marriage video and at the beginning, there is a black screen with large white lettering telling everyone that what follows does not reflect the views and values of the company that made the video, etc.

If a court or courts is utterly stupid enough to try to smack that down, they'd find virtually every company in the US making anything controversial lining up for Americus briefs, or filing their own lawsuits against that decision.

Never let a mediocre minded liberal arts graduate (aka lawyer and by extension judge) get one up on you. They simply are not that intelligent or mentally agile.

The film makers could always go to the extreme and simply:

      1) Give a couple of film students a phone or camera
      2) Let them lampoon/make parody/satirize same-sex unions

They've created a $100 film celebrating same-sex unions and have fulfilled the requirement. I doubt that there would be any stipulation on how much they must spend to create or promote it. Just post the half-assed half-baked production to YouTube and be done with it.

This should be a slam dunk for religious-rights activists. As I understand it, priests can not be subpoenaed to testify against those who confess crimes to them, even murder. There’s no way the state can fine these people for refusing to make a movie.

Well, if this thing is as advertise then this law will soon (relatively speaking) be toast as it violates two of the fundamental tenants of the First Amendment; Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech.

Minnesota is certainly an odd place so out of character than the remainder of the Midwest. I wonder if something got into the water there. My nephew's (Minnesotian) girlfriend says its all Minneapolis-St Paul, but I wonders.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in court.

Government intrusion aside, when are Christians going to evolve? When will they stop being bigots? Is religion a justifiable excuse for being a hateful bigot? If so, can't everyone just claim they're Christian, even when they're not, just to have the right to practice their prejudices? Is there really a difference between an atheist bigot and a Christian bigot? Yet, we protect one form of hatred, but not the other.

People will claim this is about religious freedom. It's not, it's about Christians feeling entitled to do whatever they want. Religious freedom does not mean giving rights to religious groups that aren't afforded to the rest of the country. Freedom starts with everyone being treated equally. So if the goal is freedom, then one of two things need to happen. Either everyone can discriminate at their own discretion, or no one can discriminate, including Christians.

The Stupid Pathetic Liar's Cabal is worthless as a source. It's so biased it hurts. Not to mention having lost several lawsuits now for deformation and lying about organizations being "hate groups."

They also don't list the hundreds of Leftist, Progressive groups that are racist, violent, and hateful.
Does the SPLC list any far-left hate groups?

Our goal is to identify all U.S.-based groups that meet our definition of a hate group regardless of whether one would think of the group as being on the left or the right. One can always debate whether a group should be considered “left” or “right.” The Nation of Islam, which we list for its anti-Semitism and vilification of white people, is a case in point. Another example is Jamaat al-Muslimeen – a Muslim group we list because of its vilification of Jews and the LGBT community. But, as a general matter, prejudice on the basis of factors such as race is more prevalent on the far right than it is on the far left.
This does not mean that extremism and violence on the far left are not concerns. But groups that engage in anti-fascist violence (antifa), for example, differ from hate groups in that they are not typically organized around bigotry against people based on the characteristics listed above.

                          https://www.splcenter.org/20171004/f...ut-hate-groups

So, Antifa leading violent protests against Milo Yanolopolis, an outspoken gay who is on the Right, isn't hateful but groups on the Right simply opposed to the LBGT agenda are...? As but one example of their bias.

They don't list the Deep Green Resistance (DGR) as another. This is a an extremist Feminist - Environmentalist group on the far Left that is so misandrogynous that they refuse to take transgendered persons in their ranks, considering them still males.

They are also wrong that racism is more prevalent on the Right than Left.
