She'll be leaving at the end of the year. In the meantime there is much that she can do as a 'lame duck' ambassador. I feel that when she leaves the UN we will still be aware of her presence in one way or another. She's an intelligent person. We need such people in the public view, if only to counter those who would make us look stupid and petty.

That is what you see through your anti-Trump goggles. I saw her as one of the most loyal to Trump's geo-politcal agenda. There is no political future after being Ambassador of any kind, especially to the UN. Ambassadorial positions are bones thrown at the recipients. She is now on a path to making big money as a "consultant" to companies that hires lobbyists. Plus the obligatory book deal.

My apologies. You're absolutely correct. In a more perfect world performance should be the practical standard, but as you point out, it isn't.
