  • DMV May Suspend Motor Voter Law

The CA DMV may suspend the Motor Voter law. People who should not be registered are being automatically registered. Most sane people knew this would happen when they came up with this bright idea while at the same time California started issuing driver licenses to undocumented aliens. The Motor Voter Law is supposed to make it easier for people to register to vote and boosting voter turnout. Apparently DMV is automatically registering EVERYBODY to vote. How nice of them.

At least one non-citizen and perhaps many more were improperly registered to vote in California by the Department of Motor Vehicles, prompting the secretary of state to demand a new investigation of the embattled agency Monday.

The DMV said about 1,500 people may have been incorrectly registered between April 23 and Sept. 25 because of a "processing error." That includes legal residents who are not citizens, although the DMV says none of the people mistakenly registered are people living in the country illegally.

One Canadian national who's lived in the U.S. 31 years told the Los Angeles Times that he knew it was a mistake when he was told he was newly registered to vote.

Yet, according to Democrats, and the like-minded, voter fraud doesn't exist and isn't a problem...

You can be Russian and do that, but only if you are voting Democrat...

No you don't, because that would mean we have the same right to determine their destiny, and we've got most of the nukes.

And how exactly is this relevant to the subject?

I'm not seeing it, but it may be too early in the day for me.

The effect on he auto insurance industry n California may be catastrophic. Somebody has to pay the "uninsured drivers" bill, and CA's illegals certainly don't.

This issue is such a mess. Gov Brown has ordered an audit into the DMV. The CA state capitol is so corrupt, I'm pretty certain this is just a band-aid while they figure out what to do. This may very well affect the upcoming mid-term 2018 election.

Are there Motor Voter law in every state?

It's a Federal law, if memory serves.

                        ....
The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) (52 U.S.C. 2050120511) (formerly 42 U.S.C. 1973gg1973gg-10), also known as the Motor Voter Act, is a United States federal law signed into law by President Bill Clinton on May 20, 1993, and which came into effect on January 1, 1995. The law was enacted under the Elections Clause of the United States Constitution. The law advances voting rights in the United States by requiring state governments to offer voter registration opportunities to any eligible person who applies for or renews a driver license or applies for public assistance along with requiring the United States Postal Service to mail election materials of a state as if the state is a nonprofit.[1] The law requires states to register applicants that use a federal voter registration form to apply and prohibits states from removing registered voters from the voter rolls unless certain criteria are met.

The Act exempts from its requirements the states that have continuously, since March 11, 1993, not required voter registration for federal elections or that have offered Election Day voter registration (EDR) for federal general elections. Six states qualify for exemption from the Act: North Dakota (which does not require registration), Idaho, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Maine lost the exemption when it abolished EDR in 2011, although EDR was subsequently restored in that state.
