The diplomats are contributing. When they go to whatever is the most expensive restaurant in New Yoirk they will pay for their food and service. Most their cars will be brought from US dealers. Their champagne will be bought from US vintners. When some Saudi Prince rents a floor of a luxury hotel, that money goes to New Yorkers. The chains they use for their slaves will probably be made of American steel.
As well as all the diplomats and their entourage there will be numerous jobs created both directly and indirectly supporting the UN facilities.

As previously noted, they don;t pay their fines, their parking tickets, they run up huge bills which they do not pay and they disobey any law they wish. Those are not "contributions".

They've long overstayed their welcome and it's time to move on and inflict themselves on others elsewhere. Mogadishu is particularly nice this time of year.

Negative. The Israelis are our friends. Move them to Palestine.

And Israel will quickly become the friend of the UN once they have had a tasted of rocks, burning tires, mortars, tunnels, and anything backed by HAMAS.

Given the concentration of top political leaders, security is tighter than a virgin's thighs -- which leads to all kinds of problem for the people who have to live and work in the neighborhood. Here's Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces -- the General Assembly's new president -- offering her view on what this event does to New Yorkers:

Given the fact that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is starved for funds, does that mean that the UN and all of its diplomats will start paying taxes? As it is the pr*cks don't even pay sales tax. Will -- at the very least -- Ms Espinosa Garces lead by example, by eschewing her limousine in favor of the subway?

The casual contempt of UN personnel for the city that hosts their glorified shopping binge has been a constant for better than six decades. We'd have been better served leaving those a$$holes out in the sterile suburbs. or letting them move to Philadelphia as they originally intended. (Yet one more strike against Robert Moses. )

Hey General Assembly Pres: either you're part of the solution, or you're part of the problem. Since plainly you offer nothing but lip-service, logic dictates that we lump you in with the problem. That being the case, the question that begs asking is, who needs you?

Watch the interview. That reporter just accepts her assertion about mass transit at face value: doesn't even pause at the audacity of her arrogance. If this . . . . individual is that cowed by celebrity that he can't so much as question such obvious drivel, then he has no business being a journalist. Grow a fcking pair already!
There was a part of me for the last few decades might have thought ... "Kick those bums out and place their HQ in another land"* ...
... but recently, and upon deeper Consideration, I'm thinking the really cagey thing the USA did was to offer some of our turf as a "home" for the UN ~ United Nations.

Consider ... with the Globe's top diplomats and negotiators loitering about NYC, where else on this planet could the USA find an economical and convenient observation post upon the planet to "spy" on all the other nations of the World ???

Hopefully "We" have made good use of this opportunity over the past 60+ ~ nearly 70 years!

If "We" haven't, then no time like the present to get started ...
...'A live dog is better than a dead lion.' ...

If "the U.N." should ever consider a relocation ... I'd nominate moving to Jerusalem since this is the foci of one of the First and Earliest "Solutions" presented by the U.N.

Also, as one of the Main/Major Conflict Focus on this planet, this Older and more 'Universal' (than NYC) City of the World just seems most suitable. Nothing motivates effective negotiations than all parties being at "Ground Zero", so to speak.

Sorry, the old, unused auto plants were razed decades ago. The only one left is the old Packard Plant.

Interestingly, while the CIA is enjoined from domestic operations, spying on the UN is a clear exception.

Never in history has there been a buffet of intelligence of such size permanently established. One can only guess how many high-end call girls in NY are affiliated with the CIA, how many bars are bugged, how many hotel rooms fully rigged out.

Who can count the number of New Yorkers who have gotten cancer from the batteries of NSA and CIA electronics surrounding the UN and national consulates. I'm amazed pigeons have not mutated into condors in that vicinity.

Someday history will marvel at the USA's ability to arrange for every diplomatic code in the world to be used in a small area on its own soil on a regular basis.

But the restaurants, hotels etc that they use do pay taxes on their profits and their employees will pay taxes on their income. So they do contribute to both the New Yorkers themselves directly and the state indirectly.

US diplomats in London and elsewhere don’t pay fines either.

Can't you guys find some more practical ways of insulting effectively the rest of the world? That is the intent after all.

Not "the rest of the world", just the UN representatives and their ilk. Useless, self-important little people who cannot even obey laws in a host nation. But if you want them, they're all yours.

UN and EU have turned out to be excellent examples of the folly of bureaucracy.

I expect that New York sees considerable income from the UN.

But I expect the effect it has on housing costs in substantial as well.

Overall I expect they see a profit from the UN's placement.

Well, I guess it is appropriate to post the next two videos in this thread..

Trump in 2016 telling us the whole world is laughing at us

Trump in 2018 before the whole world laughing at him

My most dangerous mission: I landed in the middle of an enemy tank battalion and I immediately, started spraying bullets killing everybody around me having fun up until my computer froze...
