  • Rest in Peace, John McCain-You Have Done More Than Your Assigned Duty

The nation will be all the poorer for his passing...

We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

RIP but itís good now that thereís not as much power in the US government for the US to get involved in every single conflict in the world no matter what now that heís gone.

He was the epitome of tough. Even with terminal cancer he kept going. He was an honorable man and one of America's best.

          A RINO gone. I can't say I'll miss him.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

Sad to hear of his passing, but God he was a lousy Republican.

Guys, have some common decency and leave the emotions of politics behind.

John McCain served this nation as a warrior. We have had a long tradition of respecting the service here at ACG and I shall not allow any of you to speak ill of him and deprive him of the respect and honor that he deserves like any and all others that have worn the uniform and served this nation nobly.

This thread will be a thread to honor a warrior who flew bomber missions over Vietnam, survived the carrier fire, was shot down by the enemy, refused to abandon his fellow Americans in captivity and endured more torture and imprisonment as a result, and humbly turned down an opportunity to retire as an Admiral, and lived to serve the American people once again as a public servant.

Disagree with his politics all you want, just not in this thread and not until he has been properly honored and buried.

You expect class from the deplorables?

And throwing more political wood into the fire is how you respond?

Thanks for the timely warning Sal. I've seen other threads on McCain descend into vile cesspits in record time.

He was someone who dedicated his life to the service of his nation. He almost lost that life and suffered unimaginably for that service. While his politics weren't mine, his political career was an extension of that life of service.

                        RIP.

RIP to a brave warrior and politician. He will be missed not only in the USA, but across the world.

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends, and really, to the whole USA in the passing of this great American.
