  • The real problem: Unaccompanied minor illegal aliens

While the Left and Democrats hand wring over family separations, this really pales compared to the number of unaccompanied minors crossing illegally into the US.

There has been a 117% increase in apprehensions among unaccompanied children ages 12 and younger and a 12% increase among teenagers between fiscal year 2013 and the first eight months of fiscal year 2014, according to government statistics obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the Pew Research Center. Also, the number of unaccompanied girls that have been caught crossing the border illegally has increased more rapidly this year than the number of boys, Pew research found.

Just a couple of days ago here in Arizona a group of 57 illegals calling for help stranded in the desert had 36 minors among them, 17 of which were unaccompanied.

Send them back to their country of origin. If they come from Mexico, air deliver them to the other side of Mexico. Are the relatives in the US legally? If not arrest them and send them back to where they send the underage children. If they ask for a hearing, have a hearing officer hear the case within a week. You don't need lawyers and magistrates to hear the case.

Socialism creates black markets. That's what's happened in Mexico.

I think the smuggling fees paid to reprehensible rapists and drug dealers is more indicative of how if Mexico had a capitalist meritocracy there would be nothing to flee.

One thing to note with this group of "refugees" is that they had Mexican cell / smart phones with them since they were able to call Mexican emergency services in Sonora and those services alerted the US Border Patrol to find this group. I don't know how you view that, but if you can afford a cell phone (even the much cheaper per month Mexican service ones) I don't think you are that deprived or hard up.

I have sympathy for people fleeing the socialist hell holes south of the border. I also have sympathy for the homeless but that doesn't mean I invite them into my home.

Compassion without reason sinks all ships. We can't help the millions south of the border if we ourselves fail. When we have a budget surplus and are well on our way to eliminating the national debt then we can consider allowing immigration. Until then we need to send a clear message to other countries that we will not be a safety valve so they can continue their inhumane social systems that suppress human potential.

One need only look at the recent FBI scandal to see what our problem is. Public employees that have time to send thousands of personal messages do not need to be supported by tax payers. If your priority is using your job to secure your sexual exploits by virtue signaling you are a parasite. While everyone is focused on the politics the waste and corruption go unnoticed perhaps because it is so common place throughout society. Not just in government but everywhere in our brave New world.

They use them as an excuse to either stay here, or to be allowed to bring the rest of the family here to take care of them.
