  • Trump and his children accused of using charitable foundation 'like a piggy bank'

The New York State Attorney General sued the Donald J. Trump Foundation on Thursday, alleging "persistently illegal conduct" and mismanagement at the president's charity. Amna Nawaz fills in the details with David Fahrenthold of The Washington Post, whose reporting helped instigate the probe.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_RZj98mFME

Allegations include that President Trump spent 10,000 $ of his charities money to buy a portrait of himself hung up at one of Trumps Golf course bars.

One can look at this situation with doubts. Why would a billionaire need to use charity money for self promotion. Unless perhaps Trump is somehow financially bankrupt what would Trumps motive be? Again these are accusations Trump has afaik not admitted guilt.

Trump ought address this issue and apologize if guilty, Mistakes can happen this kind of thing can be rectified. Trumps achievements with NK do not have to be overshadowed by this all Trump has to do is handle the situation.

Was Obama, GWB or Clinton ever sued like this by a State Attorney? Im not talking here about dems or GOP suing each other, but a respected US gov office suing a sitting POTUS.

Pretty hard to believe that the Trump's needed to embezzle money from their charity.

Politics is dirty business, always has been. The Republicans are going to have to get down in the dirt instead of running away like Gowdy and a bunch of others.

I wonder if Donald Trump's financial empire might be structured along the lines of John Paul Getty's. I was watching the movie "All the Money in the World". According to that film, Getty was rich, but he had placed all his money in charitable trusts in order to avoid taxes. In the end, he could control where the money was spent (such as art pieces), but could not personally withdraw all the money for his own expenses.

No kidding. This case was originally started by the New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman who resigned in disgrace. Underwood, his replacement is fishing for an easy win here but Trump has made it clear they're going to trial. That means even if New York state wins, they lose (cash-wise). It's very likely the case will drop simply because of the economics.

Their case is build in outside accusations of the fund being a slush fund for Trump laundering hundreds of thousands of dollars mostly. That's chump change to a billionaire. It's more likely New York expected Trump to settle without taking blame. Looks like that's not happening. This will tie up a lot of New York state resources moving it to trial, likely several years off.

          Is it ?

Trump has been running from one bankrupcy to another his entire career.

His claim on being a success rests mostly on the fact his family name appears on many objects he doesn't actually own.

If he applies the same business model to his presidency, he did in his private life, this is exactly what was to be expected.

So, in one case, he spent $10,000 out of his charity to buy a large portrait of himself. And that portrait wound up hung on the wall at Trump’s sports bar at the Doral golf resort. That’s kind of an obvious example. You can’t use your charity’s money to buy art for the wall of your sports bar.
Next up of course is a legal settlement, I wonder who will wind up paying for that...maybe Mexico ?

It probably won't go to trial....because Trump will settle just like every other time he has been caught trying this crap.

Including one case were the prosecutors produced a signed HANDWRITTEN note from Trump directing his staff to use foundation money to settle a legal dispute to the tune of Chump Change (100000 dollars)

Link below with picture of said note.

Why? He's a crook despite all of the protestations that he isn't. He is of low character and his preoccupation is himself. Trump supporters are self-delusional when it comes to Trump, his lack of character, and overall lack of respectability. He probably didn't 'need' to embezzle, he wanted to. And his get are also involved. I'm shocked.

What we have learned in the last few years is- people who look like a charm on TV and at public events, but rig elections behind the scenes and hire thugs to disrupt opposing campaign events (Hillary), who turn government agencies into weapons to use against political opponents (Obama) are the real crooks and are of low character. And the person who occasionally says something crude or rude in a public setting may be of a high character.

This latest accusation against Trump reads like the latest weekly (weakly?) effort by those who didn't win the White House to embarrass the current resident of said domicile.

The current attorney general of New York has no political ambitions and is not running for attorney general in the fall. What the 'accusation' reads like is the latest Trump monetary scandal.

first off they are not in office
two the Clintons actually did contribute to there foundation Trump had not donated anything to his in over 10 years
Clinton foundation money been investigated and found no wrong doing. ie the Clintons are smarter Trump when it comes to this stuff.
Trump blantantly used his foundation to enhance his campaign. We all know that a no no
Clinton Foundation had active management of it unlike Trumps which had not met in 20 ish years
