And then we have the latest farce from Trump's lawyers and another false accusation from Trump himself (I'm shocked ):

And it appears that Trump's own lawyers have demonstrated that Trump is a liar...

He has no duty to lay out one darn thing on the investigation until it is complete. Then and only then do you have a need to know. Got that Chief? Looking in to all funding Trump may have received is well with in the bounds of the mandate.

It's been a year!!! WOW, a whole year. How long did Watergate take or the multi investigations of Clinton's? You sound like a child that can't get another piece of candy. Why the rush.

This being a military history board, I'd think that most people here would know in the US that anywhere from 30 to 50% of all draftees are rejected for service. That was true in WW 1 and 2, and even in earlier drafts. The most common reasons were medical issues. A common one was having an STD. Mental incompetence was another. Yes, you could be too stupid to be drafted. The highest rates of rejection were the large urban areas and cities on the two coasts, and the deep South.

So, Cheney was not a "draft dodger." He had medical conditions related to his heart that got him rejected, among other reasons. On the other hand, Bill Clinton was a draft dodger. He signed up for ROTC in Arkansas and the second he got his deferment, he dropped the program. That is a clear example of gaming the system to avoid the draft.

In Trump's case the bone spur / foot issue may or may not be real. I don't know, and I seriously doubt anyone here can prove whether it is medically accurate or not. But, Trump was medically deferred as a result. Not that uncommon.
Gee, I should respect Trump for that? He claims he was an athlete at school, iirc. In stead of serving he now literally raps himself in our Flag like the hypocrite he his.

I had to get a wavier back in 64 to join. Regardless who avoided the draft, be it Clinton, GW, or Trump I don't hold them in high regard. "don't ask what your country can do for you"

GW got is AFNG slot do to papa and the money.

Both Gore and even Kerry got red mud on their boots, at least.

What of note have you achieved? My only claim is that I served my country honorably for 20+ and offer my life in Nam. I still don't try to tear down others to build myself up. Your an exception of course. You seem to enjoy trying with out offering and claim to fame for yourself except being in some PD.

Nice red herring. That aside, my point is that people bring this (being a "draft dodger") up about many politicians across the political spectrum. It almost always isn't true because those claiming this haven't got a clue about the realities and history of the draft. In pointing out that historically a third to half of all draftees are rejected for something says a lot about the US draft system. It also argues that many, most, of those rejected were so because of some issue they had that made them unsuitable for military service. Like:

                                Criminal record
                                Health issues
                                Mental issues
                                Level of intelligence

There's lots of things that can get you rejected.

Gore was a "Information specialist" (public relations / journalist) in the Army. He never got mud on his boots unless it was raining outside the PX... His tour was cut short at five (5) months due to "special considerations" and he returned to the states. After all, his father was a Senator...

Kerry was the sort of officer just about everybody in the military hates. A self-aggrandizing one that is only looking to enhance his own career. He was initially assigned to a DDG that did some station time off Vietnam as a division officer. Typical first tour for a Navy officer. That wasn't getting him the sort of flashy medals and stuff he could use politically later so he volunteered for swift boat duty.

He was in swift boats for barely 90 days before somehow getting three purple hearts without having so much as a scar to show for it. He put himself in for valorous awards and aggrandized his actions to get them. That is, he gamed the system.

Yes, Bush II like Gore got special treatment to a degree because of family connections. At least Bush qualified as a pilot on an F-102, not a mean feat in itself as that plane had the highest pilot workload in the USAF / ANG of any fighter at the time. It wasn't an easy plane to fly missions in. Bush lacked the flying hours to be sent to Vietnam when some F-102's were deployed there for a short time.

I have nothing against Gore or Bush for their service. I do hold Kerry in contempt however. He was truly a POS officer, and his actions post active duty were even more contemptable.

As for Trump "(w)rap(ing) himself in our Flag..." I'd take that any day over Obama not even respecting it, or Kerry burning it (metaphorically but the intent was there). At least Trump doesn't hold the US in contempt the way Progressives like Obama or Kerry do.
