We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate but strong in will
To strive to seek to find and not to yield.

Where does ESPN get morons like this?
ESPN’s Max Kellerman argued that the “Fighting Irish” mascot of Notre Dame’s sports teams should be changed as it is offensive to Irish-Americans.

Kellerman, during a panel on the Cleveland Indians changing their “Chief Wahoo” logo, argued that some Irish-Americans are offended by the Fighting Irish mascot.

“Many Irish-Americans are not offended, but many are. And should that also change? The answer is yes, unequivocally yes.”

He also said, “Pernicious, negative stereotypes of marginalized people that offend even some among them should be changed. It’s not that hard.”

    [...]

It's fracking football team. This is a very appropriate football mascot:

This isn't an appropriate football mascot:

How about they change it to "The Drunken Irish" and put one of these as the mascot?

Just think, they could get an advertising deal out of that as well!

Why stop at Notre Dame? At least their “Irish” are “fighting”

Scandanavians should also be offended by the term “Viking”, which means “Pirate” in Old English.

I guess its better than being called a “Terrible Swede”

And how do the Greeks feel about being typecast as a warlike class of Spartans?

        Ditto for the Scottish.

While we are at it, isn’t Canuck a slur for Canadian?

Same with Yankee. That’s a Southern slur for a Northerner. Oh, I mean an “american of northern descent.”

The first graduation class was 1976... The bicentennial...

Patriots (also known as Revolutionaries, Continentals, Rebels, or American Whigs) were those colonists of the Thirteen Colonies who rebelled against British control during the American Revolution and in July 1776 declared the United States of America an independent nation. Their rebellion was based on the political philosophy of republicanism, as expressed by spokesmen such as Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Thomas Paine. They were opposed by the Loyalists who instead supported continued British rule.
