  • Miami Gardens Cop Groped Woman He Kidnapped In Hotel Room

Thats the allegation against a Miami Police officer, Sgt. Javier Romaguera. Romaguera had received a call about a lady in distress who had left a mental health home. Romaguera decided to in his words help the lady out by renting a hotel room for her.

The video shows Romaguera ordering the room and talking with a Hotel manager..Romaguera can be seen escorting the lady inside the room. Romaguera is seen holding hands with the lady while entering the hotel room, which Romaguera was said to be inside for ten minutes. The lady in this case alleges Romaguera tried to have sex with her, which she refused although the allegations include Romaguera groping the lady.

What should be done in such a case? One does not know what occurred in the room but some may say the conduct the video shows is unacceptable for a policemen.

He should be fired regardless. After that it's up to the criminal justice system to prove he did something illegal rather than merely unethical.

The event occurred on July 11, 2016. Nothing seemed to have happened until the local news reported on it in November of that year.

In January the cop was suspended and the DA began an investigation

This November, the tape in question was released to the public. The DA says it expects to conclude the criminal investigation in the coming weeks.

Thanks for those links. Yes this case has been a long drawn out process.

The question would be what information was available BEFORE the media reported. If she hadn't come forward for instance, there'd be no way of knowing. If all the allegations hadn't been made, then there'd be no investigation.

She did come forward before November of last year. The security tapes would have been available to any investigator looking into her charges at that time.

And what precisely do the security tapes show, pray tell?

Things are very black and white when you're looking at them well after the fact, and well after the media has done all the work of putting the pieces together for you.

When you're getting difficult to prove and almost certainly disjointed stories from people who aren't exactly considered reliable as witnesses or victims, things are a lot more shades of grey. Remember that the CJ system is innocent until proven guilty.....but if you'd like for us to just arrest everyone immediately upon hearing a criminal complaint without any corroboration, that's fine....just pay me and I'll start doing that instead of investigating before charging.

I’m not judging the case, just pointing out, one way or the other, that it has taken a long time to conclude the investigation.
