  • Girl Scouts discourage hugging

Girl Scouts of the USA issued a warning to parents this holiday season, asking them to think twice before forcing their daughters to hug relatives at gatherings.

“Think of it this way, telling your child that she owes someone a hug either just because she hasn’t seen this person in a while or because they gave her a gift can set the stage for her questioning whether she ‘owes’ another person any type of physical affection when they have bought her dinner or done something else seemingly nice for her later in life,”

    And from the same article-
“Seriously? So now teaching our kids to show affection to FAMILY is basically child abuse?," wrote one commenter. "Unless something inappropriate is going on, this shouldn’t even be a topic to discuss... and if that is the case, that is an entirely different discussion."

“This is right up there with giving out participation trophies-ridiculous!,” wrote another. “Teach your daughters to respect others and themselves. Teach them to know the difference.”
    Yes indeed ...

The GSA have become so unpopular that the Boy Scouts are now accepting female applicants. And, shocker; no boys are trying to get into the Girl Krouts.

Hugs are a cultural thing in certain societies, so now they have to change also? Liberal democratic feminists are acting stupid again.
    My worst jump story:
My 13th jump was on the 13th day of the month, aircraft number 013.
As recorded on my DA Form 1307 Individual Jump Log.
    No lie.

Talk about a tsunami of liberal BS...I guess Mommy and Daddy are going to have to stop hugging the little kiddies as well..can't have that either, now can we?

The Girl Scouts aren't saying kids shouldn't hug their relatives their saying they shouldn't be forced to hug them.

I didn't say anything close to kids should be taught to do what they want.

Well, hugging great aunt Edna is part of learning that there are social things that you don't like but have to do.

No you don't have to hug someone if you don't want to.

Agreed, if you are creeped out by uncle Chester follow your own mind.

                        And parental authority be damned.

That lack of respect and awareness of social expectations will help them adapt more easily to prison.

Because growing up able to ignore or negotiate with parents only preps a child for conflict with employers and the State, neither of which really give a sh*t what the little beggar thinks.

Thank goodness for thinking like this, or crime rates might really have declined and I would have had to work longer to get a full pension.

A young girl refusing to hug a relative because she is uncomfortable doing so is not going to cause her to turn to a life of crime.

A young child successfully defying parental authority? Definitely a candidate.

The future is set at a young age.

The correct action in such a situation is to determine the source of discomfort. You know, to actually be a parent.

It's a dying art; too few truly care about their kids to bother.

Apparently these idiots have never heard of Reactive Detachment Disorder. Hells bells NOT hugging your child etc IS tantamount to child abuse...at the very least neglect. Humans have a biological necessity to be hugged.

Damn, and these are supposed to be EDUCATED people.
