  • USA - 2050 National Strategy/Direction

There may be a thread of similar title and focus from the past, but I don't recall such. This comes about when looking over Trump's ideas on expanding the USA military and taking a pause to wonder what enemies/wars are expected? Realizing a lot of this might depend upon what goals and agenda we have as a Nation. Granted they flux a bit from POTUS election cycle to another yet either way, it often seems we may not have much vision or course beyond the next few years from now, the next election cycle, so ...

Here is where to kick around some sort of Grand Strategy for the USA. Many whom don't reside here but participate on this forum claim what we do in USA affects them and admittedly, since about WWII it would be hard to argue against that. For about 75+ years it seems the USA has driven much of the innovation of technology, economics, industry, and culture around the world and one wonders how much longer that might be the case.

Obviously, there's a bit of a forked issue here. First is whether the USA continues on the course set out with it's founding about 240 years ago, freedom of expression, free enterprise, small guv'mint, etc. ~ OR ~ will we continue to backslide on the regressive path of increased Statism, larger guv'mint involved in all and every aspect of citizens lives, the socialist/communist "dream" ????

The shape of internal America over the next few decades will have a lot to do with how we interact and react to the rest of the world, how much we continue as the reluctant leader or if we let the global leadership role slip from our grasp, or find a way to pass it to others.

Somewhat vague and ambiguous terms for a topic, I'll agree. One gestating for a few days and wanted to get the seed out for further germination ...

I'm a isolationist so I'd like to see the rest of the world get along on its own for a bit. Without foreign loans or grants we could do 'A Penny For NASA', fix our infrastructure and put millions back to work.

Or does pure science scare you???
    Credo quia absurdum.

Quantum mechanics describes nature as absurd from the point of view of common sense. And yet it fully agrees with experiment. So I hope you can accept nature as She is - absurd! - Richard Feynman

By 2050, some sort of high value export/industrial strategy and a series of trade agreements that allows capital flows and low value imports in. I've been saying this since 2008.

      Rebirth of NASA? other things?

Something to serve humanity once again, rather than the dead-end cycles of conspicuous or emotional consumption.
