and ~53% did not want Clinton either. Clinton only has less than half a percent lead over Trump.

Really though will California over rule you? Becaise there a lot of republican voters there that since cally is a winner takes all state may as while not vote same for a Texas Democrat. Your system means many peoples votes are Basicaly worthless.
Ok so lets change it to a proportional system, more fair right?

Well Trump still would of won...

Clinton only won a few states with 60+ percent, it just happened to be large population states. Trump won a far more states with 60+ percent.

By in large the states Trump won trump won by a larger margin, but their smaller less populous states.

I didn't like Trump at first. But as I read more and more about him, I came to realize that he's a very interesting and honest man, at least better than most other politicians nowadays.
I believe that Trump'll be a good President, for America as well as the world. And US - Vietnam relationship will get much better with him in the Whitehouse.
        Long live President Trump!

The EC was working fine for centuries. Where was South Africa's democratic record 25 years ago?

Put your own house in order before you tell us how to improve on a system that has successfully accomplished a peaceful transition of power since the 1780s. Even our Civil War respected the EC process.

And that is the primary goal of the EC system: a peaceful transition of power. It delivered in 2016 the same as it always has.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

25 years ago we had all ready democratically moved forward to remove a raciest regime. All so that kind of the point. The old system did not work so we made a new system

Yeah not so peaceful with all these riots and craze **** going on in your streets. And at least here every ones vote as the same value no mater who they are.

I all ways thought the EC was set up because the founding fathers did not trust the electret to vote the right person. There primary purpose being to insure that a mad man did not become president.

Then move out of South Africa. I told you earlier that no modern western nation has it's leader elected directly by the public and you did not answer.

In South Africa, the President is not elected directly by the popular vote. So go shove it.

You know nothing about American government and continuing to gripe about something you know nothing about while ignoring that your own country also does not run on direct democracy is completely disingenuous and shows the arrogance of ignorance and false outrage above all else.

You don't like our system, fine. You don't live here so get on with it. Notice that even Hillary supporters here are telling you that you are wrong about our system, so why keep making a fool of yourself by repeating nonsense?

He has served in the armed forces of your own country for years for a start. Funny how a certain demographic on this site that constantly whinges about veterans being treated with respect, honouring the mlitary, etc are happy to **** on the service of others just because of their political views.

The usual suspects have gone into overdrive since Trump won - no surprise there.

How widespread has violence or vandalism been? How much has been peaceful protest - genuine questions here.

Sadly all sides of the divide have their troublemakers, worth remembering how many Trump supporters talked up their threats if he lost.

He won the electoral vote, which is the law as set forth in the Constitution. He lost the popular vote by as many, as of last evening, as 500,000 votes. He is a minority president-elect and does not have a popular mandate from 'the people' to govern.

He is already backtracking on his promises that got him elected, such as Obamacare and immigration, and the people who have been mentioned as candidates for cabinet positions, are not 'the best people.'

                              Really?

Then why is there a fraud case ongoing against him presently?

And what about all the people he short-changed when he was building his casinos that went bust?
