Its progress but we still need to work toward the federal legalization of recreational cannabis.

Mary Jane would have passed in California last big election if George Soros hadn't gotten involved in it. Pissed off a bunch of right wingers that were actually for it and they were incensed that he became a part of it and didn't vote for it here. We knew it was going to pass this time easily. Just hope the Feds don't get involved and mind their own business.

Uhhhmm, that's a GMO hoax, you just been owned, man. Sorry about that, no, even High Times debunked that one. As for it being denied then, California is more conservative than most people (here, anyways) think; we passed the '3 strikes law' by 72% in the early '90s. Only Washington State beat us to it. They were 1st. See? We can have bad ideas even when they're conservative.

Would bring in a ton of jobs and we need this.

I doubt it. It will give a huge boost to Mexican drug cartels, particularly in California. Between the state coddling illegals, and the already substantial number of cartel members and supporters there, the cartels will simply end up with most of the control of distribution. I expect they'll also "buy out" (eg., kill or otherwise intimidate) their opposition to ensure a large market share.

It will help California reduce prison population but not significantly. I also expect major problems with employers and DUI with pot. There are few systems in place to deal with the potential long term effects that pot has (up to 30 days in your system). Employers might see large increases in employer insurance for things like worker injuries due to the introduction of legal marijuana.

I suspect it won't be the windfall expected. It certainly hasn't been elsewhere.
