  • WW3 - the run-up

As the Ponzi-scheme known as Socialism heads towards collapse, the West is looking for ways to divert people from the slowly collapsing economy.
(In the US, a man who went straight from High School to the work-force in 1975 saw his earnings peak in the 1990s at 44,000, and is now down to $32,000, adjusted for inflation.)

Obama, Clinton, and the EU are pushing for war with Russia, or some serious brinksmanship headed in that direction. And this has been noticed. Putin is withdrawing embassy staff and families from Western nations, and it isn't ending there-
The disillusioned Kerry went so far as to call for war crimes investigations of Russian officials. But that did not stop him from going back to the Russians a mere 48 hours after announcing he was cutting off ties with them, probably as Putin knew he would. The failure of the administration's policy became hard to deny. Even Ben Cardin, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Russia expert has raised doubts about the efficacy of his presidents' foreign policy. "Russia clearly has no interest in counter-terrorism cooperation, humanitarian relief, or political progress in Syria. Through its words and deeds, it appears Vladimir Putin’s Russia is not a partner for peace."
Whatever Putin is playing at, Russia must be close to all in. There cannot be much of a margin left. With an shrinking economy smaller than Italy or South Korea's the Kremlin is taking outsize chance by challenging the West across such a broad front. The payoff must logically be worth the risk and either the Russian knows what he's doing or he does not. Putin appears to be relying almost entirely on his ability to out-think Hillary, Kerry, Obama and perhaps Trump though he may have something hidden up his sleeve: perhaps a deal with China; maybe some powerful blackmail card.

Yeah, I know that the only response I am likely to get is "EVERYTHING IS FINE SO YOU BETTER SHUT UP!!" of the classic "Your sources suck!!!" evne if I always use different ones. So be it, not even sure if I am looking for an argument here, just trying to get the info out.

As threats of a global war rise, Russia is apparently ordering all its officials to bring their family members living abroad back home. According to local media in Russia, Several high-ranking officials and politicians have received a warning message from Vladimir Putin, urging them to bring their family members back to the “Fatherland.”

The Russian website Znak.com reports that the order to bring home relatives living abroad and children studying in Western countries affects all “administration staff, regional administrators, lawmakers of all levels, and employees of public corporations.”
The order, according to the Daily Star, warns that state officials or employees “who fail to act will put their chances of promotion at risk.”
The Kremlin directive, described as an “urgent call,” has left affected Russian officials worried and sparked speculation after the Russian authorities failed to explain the reason for the order. But analysts pointed out that it comes amid worsening relations and rising tensions between Russia, the U.S., and its key Western allies over the crisis in Syria.

This is the guy who spent months & months claiming there would be a global economic meltdown that never happened, promised to leave the board if it didn't happen, and then rushed straight back to favour us with more fevered theories super quick.

Its always minutes to midnight. The world is always ending. The next theory on how it happens is always the right one.....until the next one after that comes along.

Funny. Sad. Its getting so hard to tell.

Edit: Exo will forget this as soon as the next bright, shiny object appears. I encourage sane people to dredge it up every few months to remind folk just how far from reality his views are.

No, Putin is doing no such thing. Even his crony press stated that the story was false.

Yes your sources suck. They are based on the UK Tabloid The Sun. The Sun sourced this Russian language news page and distorted it. Here is the page:

                    https://www.znak.com/2016-10-11/ross...eley_na_rodinu

Use your web browser translate to get the story in English.

Here is the opening part of the article:

Russian officials, up to the highest level, it is recommended to return to the country of children studying abroad. And to do so without waiting for the end of the study, and by shifting offspring in Russian universities. At home, parents should also return to officials and deputies, if the older generation of the family for some reason resides abroad without losing the citizenship of the Russian Federation, told Znak.com just five companions whom informal request from the presidential administration are most
The Sun then made up all the stuff about war etc. Out of thin air. If you keep reading you find this:

Varying severity of scandals related to the fact that the children of the Russian political elite are educated abroad, while their parents on television talking about patriotism and "surrounded by enemies", in recent years become permanent. In 2012, Alexei Navalny in his blog published information that the students abroad all three daughters Zheleznyaka Sergei, a prominent member of the faction "United Russia" in the State Duma. Abroad he was educated and stayed the son of Senator Elena Mizulina - however, his return did not even get it - adult.
So the Russian people are tired of hearing about how bad the West is meanwhile the Russian elite and government employees bring/send their children to western schools for most of their childhood.

Vitaly Ivanov political scientist believes that the recommendation for the return of the children of officials from abroad - a measure of "long overdue, and even overripe." "Education of the Russian elite children abroad is subject to the constant complaints and derision against the regime. Say, centralized at the state level are cultivated patriotism and anti-Western sentiment, and the children of officials are studying abroad. You can not serve two gods, one must choose. If such a measure will be initiated and implemented, it will bring consistency and certainty, which is not enough "- said Ivanov.
Yes your sources suck. I'm using the actual Russian one, how about you?

And the sad thing is you will still continue to trust those same sources that made you look rather silly.

Continue on, I know facts will not stop you.

Historically, Russian leaders have been among those who rarely get to peacefully retire, and like all prior Russian leaders, Putin walks a knife edge keeping all of the disparate elements in line and supporting him in order to maintain his precarious position.

Given that premise, is there a choice in the eyes of Russia if the West moves on him? I imagine he must answer to many masters himself including the Russian populace. How would America react? We reacted in the past by surrounding Russia with nuclear weapons ready to go on moments notice, and nuclear bombers constantly orbiting just outside Russian air space. something we ourselves refused to tolerate, as witness the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Putin is one of those leaders who cannot stand still - he must always be seen as moving forward and dealing strongly with issues. After all, America hates Obama because, among other things, he is a girlie man incapable of taking a position on much of anything. Was a time not very long ago we would have thrown such a weak president out.

I personally don't think we are heading towards WWIII, but I do think it would help Russia politically, economically, and in terms of returning to a world power, if Putin could reinstate the Cold War. Russia, after all, has it's own massive military-industrial complex that is ow largely idle.
