Obamacare Website No Longer Addresses 'You Can Keep Your Doctor'

Healthcare.gov has disappeared references to Obama's failed promise.
"If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was President Barack Obama's signature catchphrase he used to sell the Affordable Care Act to the American people. Now Obamacare's flagship website, healthcare.gov, no longer even addresses the issue.

Ironically, the section in question was the first public (if indirect) admission by the Obama administration that the president's promise was less than a "guarantee." As THE WEEKLY STANDARD first reported in July 2013, the website told consumers that they "may be able to keep your current doctor," in contrast to the president's unequivocal statement: "Here is a guarantee that I've made. If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you've got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor."

The original website contained a section entitled "Can I keep my own doctor?", later revised to "How to keep your doctor." A version of the website as of last October can be seen here:

Just before open enrollment began last year, however, this section was dropped. Now the same link takes users to a section entitled "How to pick a health insurance plan." (The internet address that contains the words "keep-your-doctor" redirects to an address ending with "plan-types.")

That's okay... In two Arizona counties you can no longer sign up for Obamacare at all as there are no providers on the system. Next year it's going to be about half the state with no providers...

Keep your doctor? How about can't have a doctor (at least on insurance under Obamacare)...

There are many other systems of medical care that work. Why did we have to develop one that is so screwed up?

I'm covered under the German system. Pay about $70 per month for my wife and I and can pick and change our House Doctor or specialist as we wish. Waiting periods are generally short and the House Doctor makes house calls.

I think the reason ours sucks so bad is because the goal was political control rather than actually helping anyone.
It was sold as a way to extend coverage to more people and to lower costs and it has done neither.
Some people have gained coverage but many lost theirs in the process and it has done nothing to control costs.

This. If the Democrats truly wanted to provide medical care to people who can't afford it they would. What they want to do is control the medical care of all the American people, adding the entire population to people who would be obligated to the Democrat party. They tried the same thing with Hillary Care way back in 1994.

Because we let the same sort of "forward" thinkers Chavez in Venezuela was come up with it. The Left screws everything they touch up.

Because someone wanted a legacy, it was passed without one republican vote.

Don't forget the secret cabal that wrote the bill with no Republican input as they were shut out of committee even. Or, who can forget Obama's anger at being brow beat on the details by Paul Ryan?
The whole of Obamacare passed as the work of a typical Leftist government cabal in some Third World quasi-dictatorship where the opposition was kicked out of any say in it.
Worse, as usual, the Left is doing nothing to fix it and you can bet they won't take the blame for its failure.

Clinton? You mean the guy who seemed to be getting the budget under control?

Where would our economy be IF we hadn't gone into Iraq? For one Cheney would be out of a couple million.

I’ve always thought that Ryan missed the perfect photo-op during that meeting. He had the whole 2,500 or so page bill sitting on the table which obviously upset O’Bama. The big O said that we don’t need the bill sitting here for a demonstration, so Paul should have gotten up carried the entire bill over to a trash can and dropped it in. Then come back and sat down and said “okay now that that is off the table let’s talk about health care reform”. It would have ended the bill right there.

This was approved by the majority of congress including Hillary (no doubt the one time she felt guilty about her husband doing nothing to stop terrorism during his term).
