They didn't refute anything he wrote about Her Hagness...
The book has rankled current and former members of the Secret Service, who don’t like anyone airing their business in public — but who also take issue with Byrne inflating his role. Byrne was a uniformed officer in Bill Clinton’s White House. But that’s the lowest level of protection within the White House and around the president.

          [...]

The former supervisor of the presidential protective division said that at best Byrne is working from office rumors that he’s cinematically written himself into. People spend decades on presidential details and don’t rack up the number of amazing scenes Byrne claims to have witnessed in just a few years as a uniformed officer.

“Did Gary Byrne hear an anecdotal story being told by a couple of agents? Maybe. But did Gary Byrne see it the way he’s purporting to have seen it? No way. That’s a lifetime worth of events this individual saw in a very short amount of time,” the former supervisor said. “If any of the things he says happened did happen, it was told to him by a third party.”

          [...]

“The Clintons always trash the messenger,” Oblinger said, adding later, “This is the first of many Clinton-directed media attempts at character assassination.”

They're mad at him for "airing their business in public" and supposedly over-inflating his position in the Secret Service.

            ^ this

Byrne was a USSS Uniformed Division officer. They are basically glorified security guards who have little to no contact with protectees. He was NOT a "suit and earpeice" USSS special agent.

Secondly, he has been retired for over a decade now. Why conveniently wait until 2016 to write his 'tell all'?

Simple, he knows what Hillary is and wants to make sure that she doesn’t get elected. Before this that wasn’t an issue.

The closest contact that Byrne could have had, according to Gilhooly and others, is seeing the president or the first lady pass in the hallway — far from the intimate access he would have needed to catch Bill Clinton in the act or see Hillary Clinton fly into the cursing rages he now writes have convinced him that she doesn’t have the “integrity and temperament” to be president.

Translation: He had very, very little if any contact with Bill and Hillary.

Seriously, this would be like the uniformed security guard in the lobby of Trump Tower claiming that Donald Trump molests little boys. Ok sure, he might see The Donald walking by or maybe he might say hello but that's about it.

Of course they didn't because it was actually worse than the Secret Service officer says in his book. I heard many stories from people who worked on the White House staff, the Clintons just don't have any class.

Simple, you know about as much about it as this dude. In his position he was little more than a gate guard in a gated community. So says the SS. Do you want to disbelieve the SS or this ex member of the SS out to make some money? Just leave Trump/Clinton out of it and what does your lodic tell you.

It's more likely that he overheard agents from the protective detail discussing what was going on.

Good security guards actually know quite a bit about what goes on in their buildings. As Yogi Berra said, "You can observe a lot by just watching" and listening.

I'll believe those that were there over you. And the uniformed members of the SS are NOT just gate guards. Shows your lack of knowledge again.

You'd be wrong. The Secret Service at the White House are more like personal bodyguards. They stay near the person(s) they're to protect. They just don't sit at a gate checking passes or ID cards. Because they have to be close by to the person they're assigned to protect they're going to see things.
But, even if he were a "gate guard," as you suggest, he's going to know other Secret Service guys who are near the Clintons. They're going to talk about stuff. Rumor and truth will fly. It may be mixed, but the true stories will get told and there will be agents and other staff who will offer proof to other staff to back their version.
Like any closed community, its hard to keep secrets...

Given the large number of similar accounts from FBI agents, military officers, White House domestic staff, the Secret Service, insiders working with the Clintons, it is far more believable than unbelievable.

My logic tells me when you have repeated stories from multiple sources, often unrelated sources, that accumulate over a period of decades, and then throw in legal investigations and even court proceedings, it's damn likely that everything this guy is saying is true, and probably not half of what actually went on.
