  • Gator drags off child

As if the shooting wasn't enough to impact Florida tourism, a gator dragged off a two-year old.

The father tried to rescue it. Can you imagine trying to cope with this sort of thing?

This bothers me. I come from gator country and generally gators leave people alone. Small dogs and cats are another story, a lone child also but this kid was by his father.

I don't know if it is in the article I posted, but the tourists at that hotel had a bad habit of feeding the gators at that place in the past.

I wonder how much Disney will settle for?

Definitely never taking my daughter to Disney World.

Madness for Disney to site a hotel next to an alligator infested lake.

The dive team found the intact body this afternoon. Most likely, that gator had stashed it to eat later.

Go to California. No gators. You might get swished to death, but its easier to avoid.

Gay Pride Days is sufficient reason alone for not taking your kids there.

And, an artificial one at that.

Watch the ambulance chasers fight over who will sue Disney over this unforeseen tragic loss of life.

                      What's swishing?

On the main point desperately sorry for the child and his family. Gave my daughter an extra hug tonight.

Why didn't Disney either kill off the gators or fence it so gators can't get to the tourists?

How about taking action on Gator Control Law?

let's ban all gators from this country, they're very dangerous!

In all seriousness, indeed, it's sad to see this turn of tragic events occurring in span of 1 or 2 days apart.

Because Disney alligators aren't supposed to kill. Haven't you ever seen a Disney animal movie? All the animals are friends and frolic together in the wild.

I grew in Louisiana and we have gators there. Most of them try to live away from humans but there is a problem with young bull gators. The bigger, meaner males run them off during mating season. These young males will look around until they can find a place of their own. It seems like just about every Spring the young bulls travel down to Lake Charles looking for a place of their own.

I worked at a Riverboat Casino for a while and we had at least two show up in about a year. Our employee parking lot was located at the foot of the bridge across the river. There were trash cans in the shelter where we would wait for the shuttle bus. These trash cans attracted cats, racoons and possums. These guys attracted a gator! I heard one person one night claiming they heard a gator under a car when she went to get in her car one night. I thought she was crazy. A gator hiding in the parking lot? Less than a week later there was a dead gator at the foot of the bridge in traffic lanes! The stupid gator tried to cross the interstate! Not only did the gator get run over, some Cajun stopped long enough to cut off its tail! They eat gators in Louisiana.

The next Spring we noticed the ducks were acting weird at the boats. The adults were high on the banks and there were no ducklings around. So one day I had a couple of extra minutes and stood there and waited. Sure enough a young gator surfaced and swam around a bit. I think the Sheriff's Department came and got it. I used to take BabyGirl and my Grandsons there with stale bread and crackers to feed the ducks. I am sure someone called the Sheriff when they saw the gator. Every now and then we would hear that a motel next to the lake would find a young gator in their swimming pool.

When you are in Gator Country always look to see if bodies of water have critters in there. You can get snakes and gators! I would not let a young child anywhere near an adult gator. You are just asking for tragedy.
