Well, at least you admit that both are rich and that blows your above comments about Social Democrats out of the water.
I think you missed my point. In a true socialist or communist country the richest people are in the top levels of government. The only way to get rich is by massive corruption. The democratic part means that you can vote for who these people are.

I'm not saying the U.S. doesn't have corruption like this. Hillary is proof of that. Just the day in the U.S. you can still get rich without being part of the government.

Sure, but how many got rich without corruption? How many got "favors from those with influence? How do lobbist make thier money and how did they get so much influence? Could it be while they and the whole system is one of corruption?

Hmm. But check out all the ex-communist countries of the Soviet bloc, same issues of corruption are still there. Now perhaps even worse. It doesn't have all that much to do with socialism, communism or democracy. Just that all power corrupts.

Name me a system were those in power are not also among the richest.

None. Never said it was unique to communism/socialism. The benefit of capitalism is that one can make money without being part of the system. However, as in any system, being connected at the top levels of government allows one better access to government money. This is just one of the unavoidable evils of any government.

True, that's why the more power a government wields over its citizens, the more corrupt it is.

I really have little knowledge on what some of them are worth. However I doubt there are few millionaires in the German Bundestag especially y when compared to our Congress. Merkel doesn't seem to have a lot of wealth nor did Kohl.

According to this she is worth 11.5 million but it doesn't show in her house.

Politicians here make money after their career by taking seats in various boards of directors of private companies but even then they rarely make it to the "richest Belgians" lists, as seen above.

Elsewhere being rich seems to be a prerequisite for a political career.
