Trump to Ryan - “YOU’RE FIRED!”

It seems GOP Supreme Command (or SHAEF - GOP, Board of Directors, Supreme Secretariat, Committee or whatever the heck they call themselves) is still harboring desperate dreams of somehow engineering something at the convention that can stop Trump becoming the nominee or being fully endorsed by all party heavyweights.

Having completed one, almost effortless hostile takeover Trump may sense this as an opportunity to shaft Ryan, rid himself of ‘useless baggage’ and bothersome ‘jerks’ and increase his ‘holdings’ in the party.

Is there anything in the rules to stop him trying to block Ryan being chairman of the convention?

    Amazing is it not?
A presumptive nominee actively and openly undermining the people who are supposed to be his bedrock support.

    Whatta Guy!

"The presumptive nominee" has always had the discretion to ask for a different chairman of the convention... And it seems that Trump-Ryan "feud" was more media hype than anything else...
Updated, 12:26 p.m. | Facing a steep challenge as he prepares to meet with Republican leaders about uniting their splintering party, Donald J. Trump on Monday struck a more conciliatory tone about House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, disavowing an ally’s call for a primary challenge against Mr. Ryan.

Mr. Ryan responded by saying he would step down from his position as chairman of the Republican National Convention in July if that is what the party’s presumptive nominee requests.

After Mr. Ryan, the nation’s highest-ranking elected Republican, said last week that he was “not ready” to endorse Mr. Trump for president, Mr. Trump on Sunday refused to rule out blocking Mr. Ryan from the convention role.

Also on Sunday, one of Mr. Trump’s top supporters, the former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, called for a primary challenge against Mr. Ryan, Republican of Wisconsin.

But by Monday, both Mr. Trump and Mr. Ryan appeared to be backing away slightly from confrontation.

Mr. Trump disavowed any hand in Ms. Palin’s remarks in a morning interview on CNN with Chris Cuomo.

      [...]

Mr. Ryan has said he might still be able to endorse Mr. Trump, but that he needed to hear more from him.

Last evening on the news, Mr. Ryan agreed to step away as convention chairman should The Donald request it. He specifically did not endorse Mr. Trump.

            Things could get interesting.
