She actually worked on trying to get a gas pipeline built. Maobama's miscreants have actively tried to prevent pipelines from being built.

The Interior Department manages resources on and under Federal lands and waters. They don't develop the resources. Their job is to ensure that the private sector can safely exploit the resources and that the Treasury receives fair value in exchange for leasing the mineral rights. The Maobama Maladministration has actively tried to prevent the exploitation of those resources.

And totally uninterested in politics... She made that clear in 2012.

So she failed. Anything to show it was the Feds that shot it down? I'm thinking not.

It hasn't been "shot down." It’s been moving forward since 2008. It can take a decade, or longer, just to prepare environmental impact statements, perform all of the geotechnical & surveying work and secure all of the necessary permits, rights of way and financing...
                    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
                    December 3, 2015

ANCHORAGE – Alaska LNG Project participants have approved a budget of more than $230 million to advance work on the proposed liquefied natural gas export project.
Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, BP, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil voted today to support 2016 project funding to continue preliminary engineering and optimization efforts on the estimated $45-$65 billion project that would commercialize Alaska’s North Slope natural gas resources. This marks another important milestone for the Alaska LNG Project

As a key component of the approved 2016 work program, the team will develop and execute a comprehensive contracting strategy to provide sufficient time for bidders to prepare competitive and quality bids for front-end engineering and design (FEED), the next stage in the project’s development. To date, the project sponsors have spent $350 million on the pre-FEED work.

Rather than going through Canada to the US, the pipeline system will take the gas to LNG export terminals near Valdez... Palin's original preference.

But not the deal she signed, in other words a new deal she had nothing to do with.

                          Your right on both counts.

                            Very true.

It's the same deal with Transcanada. The "deal" didn’t define the route. It left that open. The initial efforts were directed at a pipeline to Canada and then to the US - because that is what Trancanada thought the best option was. The explosion of US gas production from shale plays and the Herculean efforts required to permit a cross-border pipeline, led them back to Palin's original preference: An all-Alaska pipeline to LNG export facilities near Valdez.

Unlike the Maobama Maladministration, she didn’t insist on dictating details of the pipeline. The State of Alaska agreed to reimburse Transcanada for up to $500 million in initial expenses for the pipeline. This money might cover design, surveying, geotechnical analyses, permit requirements and rights of way. They have spent about $258 of the $500 million approved in 2008.

TAPS took 7 years to build, despite being fast-tracked by the State and Federal government. Design work began in 1970. Initially the Federal government dragged its feet. However, in the aftermath of the 1973 Arab oil embargo, the US government fast-tracked it and it was flowing oil by 1977. Much of the gas that will flow through the Alaska gas pipeline has been stranded since 1968 when the Prudhoe Bay oil field was discovered. It had been stranded for 40 years before Gov. Palin got the ball rolling.

We're talking about her qualifications to be Secretary of the Interior.
