  • Without apologies to Republican leadership

I know some of you have limited memories, but surely you remember a mere six years ago when a group of "rebels to the 'way of things'" (commonly known as the tea party) helped the party gain ascendency in the Legislature?

What happened? The party leadership decided to go on it's merry way and totally "blew off" the tea party. This was your first mistake! The tea party was a visual "happening", demonstrating that there was a serious flaw in the "way of things". You could have taken this group under your wing and integrated your thinking into the TP's thinking...... but NO, you just had to be so much "smarter" than the TP and you blew your chance.

NOTE: You may be smarter than the average voter but you can not ignore them!

Last cycle the whole show came unhinged. You played Romney up against an incumbent President and He wiped the deck with "business as usual" Romney.

This cycle the show really came apart, leaving The Donald as the Rep front runner..... WHO ELSE COULD IT BE WHEN THE REST OF THEM (for the most part) ARE ROMNEY REBORN? (... and the republican rank and file did NOT want a "business as usual".... they wanted a change!)

.... and you STILL talk about "doing this or doing that" to upset the bucket and keep The Donald from becoming President. You STILL don't get the picture, do you? The other side of the coin is HILLARY!

I can think of no worse disaster for this Country, as it stands today, than Hillary. Not to mention the Supremes she will pick during her tenure... Her Progressive program will cost us.... cost us Billions, and the "costing us" is exactly what has to stop. (Sound like the Tea Party here?)

As it stands this Country is on the way to a default, the debt keeps getting bigger and NO ONE seems interested in balancing the budget.

NOTE: If this Country goes into default, ALL that we have worked for goes down with it. ALL springs from the Country remaining solvent, including the "Progressive Program".

ALL the Tea Party wanted was to balance the budget..... we don't even talk about it any more. All because the Rep Leadership was too stupid (or stubborn) to pay attention to someone outside the Washington "norm".

Thou reap what you sow...... in spades.

The first step in this is to admit that we can't afford every Progressive, pretty and, incidently, vote getting programs.

I agree with you...the GOP really had a golden opportunity in 2012 when Obama was up for reelection. He wasn't all that popular and a GOP candidate who was more dynamic would have had a good chance to win. As it was they just threw Romney out there and to me he was an obvious fail way before the votes were counted. They stuck to the old program and they lost, and now they are upset because their voters are trying to force the issue. What the GOP doesn't get is it's not about the GOP, it's about the USA. It's more important that we get a successful president than it is that the GOP nominates who the party leadership favors.

Seems like this is similar to the way the Democrats acted back in the 80s when they threw Mondale against Reagan, then Dukakis against Bush Sr. They stuck to their party line and it failed miserably too, so maybe this is the point where the GOP starts paying attention the way the democrats eventually had to.

Valid points except Trump hasn't offered anything akin to the Tea Party philosophy. Secondly, he's unelectable, so this was a huge waste. There were other candidates who were far more small government, pro-freedom and fiscally conservative than Trump is. So if that was the core issue and top priority here then the Republican party would not have nominated Trump.

You may be right on the TEA Party part, but you're dead wrong on his electability as proven by him winning the Republican nomination. By your standard, Hillary is even less electable in my view. Who wants a career criminal for President?

No one, unless said criminal is running against Trump.

Winning the Republican nomination is entirely different. This country elected a black "socialist" twice over two sane and qualified republican candidates. You think the masses are suddenly going to go for a nut job republican?

Every poll I've seen shows Clinton winning in a landslide.

Then you have only been looking at Democratic polls.

Hillary is carrying fatal baggage when the run for president begins, and it will all come out.

And if you really want Hillary the Criminal to win, you're a major part of America's problems. WE DO NOT NEED ANY MORE CRIMINALS IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

Hillary is a criminal and the worst example of blind ambition i could think of. i could never vote for her.
that said, Trump is just as foul of a person. i am constantly amazed that a man who has espoused democrat party beliefs most of his life has now become the Republican nominee. it speaks to both the arrogance of party leadership and the short attention span of the electorate.

Donald has been a fan of using government and laws to his personal advantage and not to any larger philosophical belief.
"eminent domain"? sure! lets try to kick a widow to the curb so Donald can park his limo next to Trump Plaza casino, Atlantic City.

oh them darned illegal aliens!! got to keep them out! well except when Donald wants to use them to build Trump Tower. I guess Illegal Polish workers are ok because they werent Mexican.
but hey, Illegal workers are great because they let Donald hose them out of money he owed them...i mean, who are they gonna complain to?

maybe if he makes it to president he can skip the lawsuits over Trump University. where people got a real life lesson in trump business practices. Take peoples money and when things go south, walk away and declare bankruptcy.

maybe Trump would raze DC and build a new casino...no big loss except i rather like the Smithsonian.

I don't want Hillary as president. i also don't want Donald the con man.

this year I will actually vote Libertarian and support those candidates down ticket who i feel are worth a damn. this country is in trouble, some days it seems we have passed the tipping point toward Idiocracy.
lets remove "E Pluribus Unum" from the seal and replace it with "Its got Electrolytes"!

Criminal or buffoon, which is worse? I'm going libertarian, I don't care who wins between the two as neither are going to set this country straight or uphold the constitution.

Agree completely. And that is one of the reasons Trump doesn't belong there. He is already advocating criminal behavior as government policy.

"TEA party" is still active in some parts of the country. I'm on the board of our local org. and the Education Committee.

POTUS is not meant to be "dictator of USA", and so long as citizens work to get fiscally responsible and ethical persons elected to Federal Congress and local governments, the excesses from the White House can be countered somewhat. Properly organized, focused and activated, "grassroots" has more power and influence than many appreciate.
