  • 3 stabbed when violence erupts at KKK rally in California

LOS ANGELES (AP) Dozens of protesters who heard about a planned Ku Klux Klan rally were waiting by a Southern California park when six people pulled up in a black SUV. They were dressed in black shirts decorated with the Klan cross and Confederate flag patches and took out signs that read "White Lives Matter."

Witness video show the Klansmen were quickly surrounded Saturday afternoon by the counter-protesters who shouted at them. Someone smashed the SUV's window. One KKK member stabbed a counter-protester with the decorative end of a flag pole, setting off a vicious brawl where three people were stabbed, one critically, and two were assaulted.

"I got stabbed," a man is then heard screaming, lifting his T-shirt to show a wound to his stomach. A fire hydrant where the man briefly sat was covered in blood.

One police sergeant saw another Klan member with a knife in his hand and a counter-protester bleeding nearby, Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said. The sergeant took the KKK member into custody. Meanwhile, counter-protesters stomped on two KKK members, he said.

Memo to KKK members-if all you can scrape together is six people, it might be best not to publicize your "rally", as you will probably be outnumbered.

They probably expected unaffiliated whites to come to their aid, starting a local race war.
Reaction to the 2016 Munich shootings:
Europe: "We are shocked and support you in these harsh times, we stand by you."
USA: "We will check people from Germany extra-hard and it is your own damn fault for being so stupid."

Seeing as most of the local "whites" are Hispanic, probably not a good idea, either.

Orange County is actually home to a very conservative base in Southern California. The KKK is mostly just the fringe edge of it; the greater proportion is primarily more typical run-of-the-mill racists. And every year, there's always stuff about how some mystery people who run around at night are painting swastikas on a synagogue, lighting crosses on a black persons lawn or leaving white power leaflets here and there, or beating up some ethnic minority. In Huntington Beach, a place normally associated with sun and surf, the white power guys actually have a fairly infamous presence.

If the KKK were smart, and fortunately they aren't, they would re-brand themselves as a "kindler gentler" form of bigot and get rid or artifacts like the hats and the embrace of Nazi symbols. Lose the robes and wear suits or turtle necks ala Steve Jobs

There is enough racial tension and reaction right now that they could attract more followers without the baggage and call themselves a "right of center" group advocating for "white equal rights" or some such nonsense as a cover for their core stupidity.

One is also tempted to wonder why a "rally" of just half a dozen Loons rated a national news story.

The KKK is national news whenever it appears in public, no matter how small.

The irony is that a half-dozen KKK getting into a brawl warrants more news than thousands of Black Lives Matter protesters marching.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

This can't be true, according to the posters here, racism is long-dead.

The racist wing of my family all live in Southern California as well. Well, more SE, but the first time you get handed white supremist literature at a family outing you try and distance yourself from them.

Memo to Right Wing groups: No matter how "peaceful" you might be the Leftists will provide all the violence necessary...

Of course, I don't hold a scintilla of sympathy for these Klan KooKs, but that doesn't change that the counter protesters acted exactly like I'd have expected them to act.

They wouldn't be in the news, and in fact ignored, except that the counter protesters went mob violent on them and no doubt the cops showed up and started arresting people. Six ignored Klan KooKs in a park don't get in the news. Six of them beaten by a mob and their vehicle trashed when they started a "peaceful" protest does get press time.
I might even suspect they did this knowing what the result would be and did it exactly to get that result.
