  • Final pre-Iowa R debate

"The Donald" will not participate in FOX network's Republican debate. Or, so he says today. Anyone got any ideas about how this will turn out in the end? I think he'll show up if only to antagonize Rush Limbaugh and make fun of Megyn Kelly.

I hope he doesn't show up, I am already sick of looking at him, his stupid hair and listening to his gasbag BS.

Trump not backing down from Fox debate boycott

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump isn't backing down Wednesday from his threat to boycott this week's GOP debate, where candidates have the opportunity to make their closing arguments before voting begins in Monday's Iowa caucuses.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said in a pair of television interviews Wednesday that Trump, a billionaire businessman, "knows when to walk away from a bad deal."

"They think they can toy with Mr. Trump," Lewandowski said of Fox News on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "Mr. Trump doesn't play games."

I understand the angst Trump has tapped into. However at this point the only scenario I see where I would cast my vote for the guy is if the general election were between him and the Every Guys Ex-Wife Shrill-Harpy Coccydynia Completely Corrupt Blather-a-Thon Hillary Clinton.

Trump could be the boost Sanders needs. Will be an interesting election.

I think even Hillary has a better chance of beating Trump or any Republican for that matter, than Bernie does. I don't believe anyone who describes themself as a socialist can win a general election in this country. Trump scares people but Sanders would scare them more.

Not when it comes to personality. I know very devout conservatives that respect Sanders far more than they do Hillary.

This is an election for fringe politics. And considering that so many Americans call Obama and Hillary and the Democratic party socialist already, the label has lost a lot of its bite.

You would vote Sanders over Trump?

So, instead of a stealth-Socialist like Hilly we will get the real thing.
                Brilliant.

I know I would, and I disagree with Sanders on nearly everything - far more than I disagree with Trump.

I never understood that logic. Why would you vote for someone who stands for things you don't just because of their personality? Does it make you feel better if they seem nice and relatable as they attack everything you believe in?

If a leftist ran for office in Hell I'd at least cast a vote in favor of the devil.

                      Three reasons.

                      1) it would be hilarious.

                      2) it would be a big middle finger to Trump supporters.

                      3) it would help devide the Democratic Party and - hopefully - break off its more moderate wing in the next election.

After all, this hypothetical means I have to choose between two parties I despise and two ideologies I disagree with, so might as well vote for the one that gives me the greatest personal benefit.

And besides, the GOP still runs congress, and unlike lots of folks I don't think every election is a decision between preventing the apocalypse or not. So I don't think either Trump or Samders will destroy America and the like.

He's said no, and his campaign manager has confirmed.

So no, unless he does a 180 or Fox backs down, he won't show up.

Sanders didn't factor into the equation, as he will never be allowed to win the nomination. They will find him under a cannon in Ft. Marcy Park before that happens.

Fair enough. That's actually the first logical and well thought out answer to that question I've ever gotten. Usually its along the lines of "He just seems more likeable" or "I could have a beer with him."
