  • Maobama pays personal visit to only American worried about climate change.

Well, maybe she's not the *only* America worried about climate change; but it's still a priceless story...
Climate change: Barack Obama meets Nebraska mum after receiving heartfelt letter
    Updated January 14, 2016

    [...]

Mr Obama arrived in a quiet community in Omaha, Nebraska, in an 18-car motorcade on Wednesday to visit Lisa Martin and her husband Jeff in their living room.

The unexpected visit stemmed from a letter to the President Mrs Martin penned 12 months ago as she sat awake at 4am feeding her newborn son Cooper.

She wrote to Mr Obama not expecting a response to convey her thoughts, worries and hopes for the future in which her son would grow up.

In her letter, Mrs Martin described her "overwhelming sense of dread" about climate change.

"Will my son be able to thrive on this planet?" she wrote.

"Will he be able to experience the small things, such as winter in Nebraska, where he has snow days and sledding?

"Where he comes home to me cooking homemade hot cocoa for him, like I did?

"Sadly, I think the answer is no.

Can anyone spot the irony here?
"Mr Obama arrived in a quiet community in Omaha, Nebraska, in an 18-car motorcade..."

What's the carbon footprint of an 18-car motorcade?

CO2 emissions per gallon of gasoline consumed:
    • 8.91 kilograms CO2 Per gallon of gasoline

18 vehicles. Let's guess that each vehicle burned 5 gallons of gasoline:
    • 18 * 5 = 90 gal
    • 90 gal * 8.91 kg/gal = 802 kg CO2

Assuming that the trip only employed Air Force One and a single C-17 Globemaster...

CO2 emissions per gallon of jet fuel consumed:
    • 9.57 kilograms CO2 Per gallon of jet fuel.

The fuel consumption rates can vary widely... A C-17 can burn more than 10 gallons per mile. A 747 burns 5-10 gallons per mile. Let's just assume each aircraft burned 7 gallons per mile.
    • Joint Base Andrews to Omaha NE ~1,100 miles, ~2,200 miles round trip.
    • 7 gal/mi * 2,200 mi * 2 aircraft = 30,800 gal
    • 30,800 gal * 9.57 kg/gal = 294,756 kg CO2

    Motorcade + Air:
    • 802 kg + 294,756 kg = 295,558 kg CO2

The per capita CO2 footprint in the US is about 17,500 kg/yr.
    • 295,558 kg / 17,500 kg/capita = 17 people

The Martins' family of three would take nearly 6 years to emit 295,558 kg of CO2. Dear Leader Chairman Maobama did it on a quick trip to visit then to assure them that he was fighting climate change.

The stupidity of this story is mind boggling.

When will Maobama get around to visiting the Americans who fear Godzilla?

The closest I have got to Nebraska was Phoenix, Az.(actually Flagstaff, Az. from memory).

Even with my limited exposure to the geography of the USA, it doesn't need the brainpower of a brain surgeon to realise that there is always going to be snow in the winter in Nebraska, -D'OH
even if the average world temperature increases by a few degrees C.

The January daily average is 23.5 F (−4.7 C), with lows reaching 0 F (−18 C) on 11 days annually. The lowest temperature recorded in the city was −32 F (−36 C) on January 5, 1884,[108] and the highest 114 F (46 C) on July 25, 1936.[109] Average yearly precipitation is 30.6 inches (777 mm), falling mostly in the warmer months. What precipitation that does fall in winter usually takes the form of snow, with average seasonal snowfall being 28.7 inches (73 cm).

Based on 30-year averages obtained from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center for the months of December, January and February, Weather Channel ranked Omaha the 5th coldest major U.S. city as of 2014.[110]

The woman is somewhat lacking in "smarts", as is the news agency reporting on this.

I am ashamed to say it is Australia's very left wing biased taxpayer funded public broadcaster, the ABC.

I won't comment on the level of intelligence displayed by the current US President concerning this matter.

But I will thank "Doc" for giving this article about "air heads" some "air time".

He said anybody who still disputed the science around climate change would be "pretty lonely".

"You'll be debating our military, most of America's business leaders, the majority of the American people, almost the entire scientific community, and 200 nations around the world who agree it's a problem and intend to solve it," he said in his final address to Congress.
The above said by Obama is nothing but a concoction of lies and disingenuous dissembling.

The US military is concerned about climate change only because the Obama administration has told them to be. Change Presidents and the next one isn't concerned with Gorebal Warming and the military stops being concerned too.
"...almost the entire scientific community...?" I'd say that is a gross exaggeration. You can barely get a majority of climate scientists to agree on anthropomorphic Gorebal Warming.
That politicians see big bucks in this is irrelevant as are the 200 nations statement.
American business leaders are only interested to the extent that it affects their bottom line. I'd also say there are considerable segments of US business that are opposed to the push against carbon in specific.

Obama's statement is just one delusional one from the Left that he's made, nothing more.

Oh, anybody know anything about this lady and her husband in terms of background? Just curious...

Maybe he was inferring that we're now part of the interstellar community and what happens on other planets is important to our future here...

Has anyone ever witness Obama's motorcade in real life? I have at least three times that I recall and I have seen every POTUS motorcade since Ronald Reagan.

It is a lot more than the 18 car motorcade - that is only the Presidential limo and the black SUVs. There is also an ambulance, a fire engine, embedded news vans, and countless local LEO escorts.

Before you even see the convoy, there are scouts which come always about 5 minutes in front, followed buy the advance guard three minutes later. Keep in mind that all traffic in any direction are blocked off for about 20-30 minutes prior to and about 10-20 minutes after the motorcade pass through. Hundreds or thousands of cars stuck with their engines running for maybe up to an hour while a motorcycle whizzes by every minute or so until the scouting group shows up. There is also a rear guard that follows the motorcade as well another episode of motorcycles whizzing by every minute or so.

Hundreds of police cars holding up traffic and thousands of cars stuck in traffic. They also have alternate routes and possible escape routes that you are not aware off other than you getting stuck blocked by black and white units for no apparent reason until you hear later that the POTUS was near the area.

Any that is not all. I have even seen attack helicopters on several occasions while stuck in this mess. A few years ago, I even saw Marines One and two Cobras flying low following a railroad track. Obama was not on it, it was some sort of Plan B escape route.

At least nuclear war was a real possibility.

I suggest a constitutional amendment that prohibits that. The President isn't so important he can't be replaced at a moment's notice by the vice president, speaker of the house, Joe the Plumber, or somebody else.

I mean seriously. At that point wouldn't it be cheaper to play 'where's the Pres' in a 5 Tank Convoy?

Depends on who is counting. USSD counts 195, but don't count Kosovo or the Vatican and Taiwan. Palestine is also not on the list or has it been decided just what it is?

So, let's give Obama the benefit of the doubt here. Restated, he's saying Every nation on the planet is highly concerned about Gorebal Warming. I doubt that's true either. I think there's quite a few that don't give a rat's patoot about it, and a good many more that have far more pressing issues than the temperature going up a few degrees in the next century or whatever.
