  • Muslims Raise Nearly Quarter Million Dollars for San Bernardino Victim Families

A fund started by American Muslims to raise money for families of the San Bernardino shooting victims reached nearly a quarter-million dollars in its closing hours last night.

Over the 12 days, more than 2,000 people contributed $215,515 to the “Muslims United for San Bernardino Families” crowdfunding campaign on LaunchGood. The initial goal was just $50,000.

    American Muslims Respond:
    Fundraiser for Victims' Families

At least 14 people were killed and 17 more wounded in San Bernardino, California where up to 3 attackers went on a shooting spree at a regional center that serves those with special needs. The San Bernardino families lost their loved ones in a deplorable act of violence. This is why a collective of American Muslim leaders and groups have united to raise funds for the victims' families.

We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action. Our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "Have mercy to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens (God) will have mercy upon you." And the Quran teaches to "Repel evil by that which is better" (41:34).

You may as well be talking to a wall. The people here hate Muslims and will simply ignore this story as they do with others like it.

I haven't ignored it. There isn't much to comment on it though. It is really a first for Muslims in the US. Maybe it's a sign they've finally recognized that there's a minority within their religion that are vicious, violent, radical, @$$holes that need to be dealt with.

Did American Muslims raise money following the Boston bombing? Following the traitorous Major Nadal shooting? How about after 9/11?
Seems they are a little slow on the uptake here...
