  • NJ 5th graders arrested for plot

    5th graders.

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/12/02/police-5-fifth-grade-students-detained-for-plotting-to-attack-new-jersey-school/?intcmp=hplnws

Clifton, NJ is my home town. And even scarier is that School 11 was my elementary school!

The Fox report is the same one I've seen all along. No real info. And due to the age, we'll never know. However, I have some friends that might be able to provide some inside info.

It should be noted that this neighborhood, the Lakeview section is adjacent to South Paterson, a mostly muslim area.

The demographics of my old neighborhood have drastically changed.

An attack is an attack. In this day and age, the age of the plotters is totally irrelevant.

Sorry about it being your former school, though, but times change and not for the better, it seems.

Kids have been used in terror attacks elsewhere. No reason to believe that we're immune.
Any man can hold his place when the bands play and women throw flowers; it is when the enemy presses close and metal shears through the ranks that one can acertain which are soldiers, and which are not.

Terror attack plan consisted of a plan to get back at a bully. The device consisted of an Altoids tin, vegetable oil, salad dressing and cinnamon sticks..... reality helps.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday said five Clifton elementary school students suspected this week of improvising a crude “bomb,” in fact had concocted a mix of vegetable oil, salad dressing and cinnamon sticks, putting the ingredients in an empty Altoids tin. In reaction to an incident of “perceived” bullying involving a youth who attends Clifton High School, they plotted to somehow use device during a field trip to the high school this week — a plan Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said was “immature and unrealistic,” as the “bomb” was “neither flammable, nor dangerous.”
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
              “To talk of many things:
              Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
              Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
              And whether pigs have wings.”

Of course, they could have ignored the warning signs like that of the first grader that brought a loaded gun to school and killed a girl days after being coddled for stabbing another kid with a pencil in class. https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-59713005.html

Stabbing a kid vs mixing harmless ingredianents in an Altoids Tin..... Yup, almost the same thing. They will not be 'coddled' they will have to attend several programs with the police on violence etc.

Of course the funny thing, besides the Altoids Tin etc, is that is this was a kid in KY with a Shotgun in a rack in his pick up, you'd be screaming bloody murder against the school and the police.

Intent is the key word in matters like this. If you tried to build a dirty bomb and got half of it wrong, you still would be seeing the inside of the Federal prison system.

The 'my client is too stupid to be a real threat' defense isn't all that effective.

Yeah but, there is not way any of that could be made into a bomb, is there?
Sounds more like a yuk-splatter or something like it.

Back in the early 60s, before the Progressives destroyed public education with their social experiments, it was common practice to have a shotgun in the rack of your pickup in rural high schools. We went pheasant or deer hunting after school let out for the day.

The combination of Altoids and a carbonated beverage in a confined container can result in that container exploding in a shower of shrapnel.

Yes it's new information, which is why I posted it. Perhaps it's best not to make assumptions from the early reports on a story.

Read Ron. There were NO altoids, just the tin. Now go back and read the list of ingredients......
