  • Liberals; "check your privilege"

This young woman is remarking about George Takei's "racist" statement about Clarence Thomas:

"I don't discuss sitting presidents," Mattis tells NPR in an interview. "I believe that you owe a period of quiet."

Nothing new there. Nice to see someone who can vocalize it.

The Progressive Left is rife with bigots, haters, racists, narrow-mined self-absorbed narcissists who think they are God's gift to humanity.

But, disagree with them and they become some of the most vile, violent, and hateful people on the planet.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: you cannot regulate opinion or perception. Whether its the civil rights movement or gays, all the government interference just builds a better bigot.

The left is a prime example of this.

It seems the privilege of the left is that they have a certain level of impunity due to a lot of media which ignores things or releases things at times when probably most people aren't going to be listening anyways.

Why can no one understand that idiots aren't idiots because of their political views. Liberal/progressive does not someone a bad person no matter what you think. I'm not going to blame every conservative for the words or actions of a few idiots.

                Why not? I do.

Having your feelings hurt because someone said something you don't argree with is not a "right" anyone needs to be protected from.

The context of the OP and youtube link is that everyone has the right and freedom to express themselves, even if they are racist or exclusionist in their views. And others are free to point this out.

A subtext is the anecdotal experience of many of us that the American Left has a larger percentage/proportion of bigots, racists, hypocrites, etc. than found on the American Right. Just look at the current range of views and positions of GOP(Right) Presidential potentials and you'll see more variety and diversity than what is coming out of the Democrats(Left).

Very true. The media's epic failure to achieve anything resembling integrity, accuracy, or value has taken on legendary proportions.

Liberals are terrified that someone will point out that they are in any way wrong. There is so little faith in their own beliefs that they cannot sustain even the idea of criticism.

The left's efforts to silence others is a desperate attempt to silence their own secret knowledge that they are, in the end, wrong.

He referred to the civil rights movement and the push for marriage equality.

This is a pile of crap blanket statement. It's not the fault of the Left or the Right. They worked together to mess things up.

We are all wrong as our approximation of reality is is just that. The question is who is more wrong and usually it is a subjective evaluation.

I have never understood why people insist on absolutes. Moral relativism may be something for philosophers to debate but from a political point of view all that is required to make a democracy work is a reasonable amount of humility.

What is absolute about morality for me is the need for morality not for people to accept my definitions unabridged.
