  • U.S. Border Patrol helicopter shot down near Texas border

I can just imagine the harsh letter Obama will write in response.

WASHINGTON – A U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter was fired at and forced to make an emergency landing near the river banks of Laredo, Texas, officials confirmed to Fox News on Saturday.

The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. Friday when the aircraft was patrolling the Rio Grande near the far northwest corner of the border city of Laredo.

“The helicopter was impacted by gunfire, hitting the side of the aircraft and the rotor blade,” a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told Fox News. “The pilot was able to make a safe landing, there were no injuries. There is an on-going search for the suspects on both sides of the border.”

What do you mean "...harsh letter...?" Obama won't do a wooden nickel's worth of anything about this. For him it might as well have happened on Mars.

You are probably right, I was being optimistic.
Do you think Bush would have done anything?

          A. It happened in Texas.
          B. Bush was not a narcissist.

So, I think Bush would have taken far more interest in this than Obama ever will.

Sounds like a good reason to start a war with Mexico.
            My worst jump story:
My 13th jump was on the 13th day of the month, aircraft number 013.
As recorded on my DA Form 1307 Individual Jump Log.

No, but we should have conquered the whole country in US-Mexico War. By today, we wouldn't have Mexico Problem.

Never mind a border patrol helicopter being shot at. Never mind that the drug and smuggling gangs have made Mexico a dangerous place to be in. Never mind the gross corruption and bribery taking place in Mexico among it's military and Government officials. Never mind the invasion of illegals pouring across the border along with the drugs and violence. The Democrat Socialist in the White House, or when he is not playing golf, says that our border is secure. Therefore, it must be.

Yeah, we Americans, both then and now, play too nicely at times.

Yeah, on contrary, I think if Mexicans become accustomed to our rule and a more honest governing of their country, it would have saved them a lot of grief and trouble in years ahead and might have benefited them economically.

That would mean the super wealthy in Mexico might have to spread some of their wealth among the peons. If they can get them to go to the US, problem solved.

The fact is that no president has taken border security serious in the last 50 years. Mexico has been a corrupt cesspool for at least as long.
Neither party gives this topic anything more than lip service to the problem, the logical conclusion is that money talks and drug cartels have a lot of money to line the pockets of politicians on both sides of the border.

No kidding. Sure, the flag would have like 60 stars, but what the hey... no Spanish, no Spanglish, no Hispanics, no idiocy on that account. And, no Mexican beer! We make enough cat pi$$ on our own without that crap!

Agreed 100% ... it's inevitable now that we will have to go into Mexico and sort things out (for the 3rd time in our history). The "Mexico problem" is approaching a national security crisis due to Mexico's endless instability (ever since oh say 1821), corruption, and the drug cartels.

We could have saved ourselves alot of trouble if we had kept all of Mexico in 1848. My only concern with annexing Mexico today is that all of the Mexicans would become US Nationals (see the US Supreme Court case Gonzalez vs Williams from 1904) and promptly move north of the Rio Grande leaving us with an unpopulated Mexico except for a few Gringo expats. Also the US Supreme Court will eventually overturn the Insular Cases (perhaps as soon as this year). This will require us to treat Mexico (and PR, Guam, USVI, etec etc) the same as the states.
