Depends on the circumstances. Missionary kids in the 3rd world see them all the time. But this is nudity that comes from custom, poverty, and it being 120 freaking degrees in the shade. That nudity harms no one. However being exposed to nudity by people using it as a weapon of harrassment (ie flashers), that is.

Yes though let's be real. In America nudity is pretty much all about exhibitionism and/or petty defiance. If you aren't living in a monsoon heated oven then it is easily discernable that your reason for nudity is merely to be provocative. Let's not kid ourselves. Heck even in hot climates, you'll never see me without shoes even. Screw expression or comfort, there's hornets in them there weeds!

Stop staring and you can quit whining.

But seriously, I didn't say that from a US legal viewpoint(as Arnold sees things) as much as from a cultural one. Your hysteria with nakedness is quite laughable...I doubt there's ever been a single american who hasn't freaked out about going to sauna naked.

      EDIT:

Although if I recall correctly here in Malta you are not allowed to take your shirt off in public(except at the beach) which is quite idiotic when the weather guarantees that your shirt is about 99% sweat all the time during the summer.

I think the idea that it's all about harassment is sort of the point I was making. We have this very odd and puritanical idea that nudity in itself is lewd and sexual and shameful, but are less concerned about violence.

After all, who hasn't heard a 13 year old on the other end of a hyper violent shooter? And do you remember when the biggest scandal about GTA wasn't that you could run over grandmas and blow up police officers, but the fact that there was a hidden sex scene in it?

          Hysteria?

You act like asking someone to keep their pants on is the trampling of all that is good and decent and then call me hysterical.

I'm going to employ a formula often utilized in my childhood.

If you spent as much time (performing chore you are trying to get out of) as you do (whining about said chore), you'd be done by now.

There are people in America who don't want to see your junk. You may view yourself as a masterpiece of natural beauty but they don't. It takes five seconds to don pants. Quit whining and do it.

            We are?

The penalty for premeditated murder is typically life in prison.

The penalty for indecent exposure is a ticket.

If you kill someone, people on the internet will call for your head.

If you stand around naked, people on the internet will tell you to put some pants on.

If you think we (conservative judeo-christian westerners) believe that nudity is inherently shameful then you should probably see some of our artwork. I could think of a few chapels you should visit. One has been the endless butt of pull my finger jokes.

But most Americans believe in propriety. There is a time and a place for everything. And public is not the time and place for nudity. People can understand and appreciate nudity in art. They just don't want it thrust at them when they're trying to get to work in the morning.

The hidden sex scene resulted in what? Angry comments on the internet? Maybe a call to boycott? (seriously asking, I didn't pay attention to the controversy)

Murder can get you executed in some states.

Which is the stronger reaction? Declaring yourself offended on the internet? Boycotting a product? Writing a ticket for indecent exposure? Or strapping someone to a table and filling their veins with poison?

We're more harsh on murder than nudity.

No, I am acting like throwing people into jails because they do something inconveniencing to you is a bit silly.

There are people who want to see you abandon your religion, takes all of 5 seconds too. Doesn't mean you should do something just because you or someone else wants it. or like I said; you dont wanna see a man naked on his front porch, don't be staring at his front porch.

Indecent exposure rates a ticket last time I heard. It's a misdemeanor. And as AJ said, even that depends on what state you're in.

Well if you want to get technical, abandoning my religion would take years of introspection and a growing realization that I am wrong coupled with a conflict in breaking traditions and a massive existential reformation.

Wearing pants takes two leg motions and a swift upward pull - if they're elastic.

                It won't kill you.

But I am curious, what is the practical reason behind nudity that makes the requiring of pants an unreasonable act of tyranny? It does raise my curiosity that so many act as if clothing is a serious burden to place upon society.

Well dude. I am not necessarily saying it's an act of tyranny. I just think it's a bit stupid.

And you know, God is with me on this one. After all he banished Eve and Adam the moment they started wearing clothes. Being naked is the natural state to be in, not wearing clothes.
